Hermione tried her hardest to hide her grimace as she revealed the baby’s name, but she could still feel a twist to her lips. The women surrounding her bed all seemed to blink in shock and turned as one to look at the taciturn man in the corner, cradling the baby girl as though she were made of diamonds. They could hear him faintly singing and tried their hardest not to decipher the words.
“I never took Severus as a Hall and Oates fan,” Mrs. Granger stated softly, mesmerized by the sight of her son in law.
Mrs. Weasley simply stated, “The song was a huge hit for everyone when we were younger, muggle and wizard alike. That song is what drove Arthur further into his muggle obsession-he was convinced that Hall and Oates had some latent magic.”
Ginny seemed particularly hypnotized by the sight and kept turning her head, as though she could puzzle out what was really going on. Luna was mirroring Ginny and giggling slightly as she hummed along with Severus.
Minerva seemed to pull herself together and was the only one to ask, “What is the child’s second name?”
Hermione sighed and simply stated, “Rosanna.”
Her mother looked at her quickly, exclaiming “I used to love that song!”
As Severus reached the chorus, Hermione’s mother quickly joined in and as the triad sang “It’s you and me forever! Sara smile!” Hermione tried to bury her face under a pillow.
I’ll remember next time not to bet against a Slytherin when it comes to naming our baby, she thought to herself as Mrs. Weasley and Minerva join in. At least he listened to reason when he tried to name her Lola.
