I'm that way about gifts also. I kind of hate them because of the combined guilt/materialism associated with holidays and the fact that my family tends to forget things like my birthday presents for months, although they do give me a lot when they get around to it. I actually like giving gifts, but not receiving them. Ideally, I like to give them if I can not be around when they are received and if I can wrap them in silver paper.

I am so jealous of your grandmother-made scarf. I love hade made things and of course anything that imitates handmade is silly expensive right now anyway, not to mention being an imitation if it's bought in most stores. I bought a hat from a lady who knits or that other thing people do to make such things.

The pill box thing is great! From people who have seen what happens when you forget your meds!! *giggles* (been there: done that, gotten aquitted on grounds of permenate insanity)

I've been reading on reiki but I know almost nothing. I am interested in how it compares to yoga. I'm thinking reiki is like yoga but more actively geered to healing through the use of thoughts to shape reality rather than yogas fairly passive approach to reality in general. Please let me know what you learn about it as you read!!

Nice stuff!!

reiki seems really cool. my mom gave me a book on it because a few weeks ago this woman came to my school to do free masages. she was the friend of one of our teachers and juat offered to do it as a favor right before exams. pretty cool.
but then it turned out she does more than just masage, shes also in aromatherapy and reiki and other similar things. so she started giving me a masage, but then she was like 'i do this new thing called reiki and i can tell youd benefit from it' so i was all for it.
its really cool, its relaxing like a masage but less physical kneading-like stuff and more just light contact with different parts of the body. it focuses on the emotional factors that affect physical symptoms, like stress. i was shocked because she had actually picked up on something that theres no way she could have known about... its something nobody knows about.
so then she talked with me for a minute and she told me that she could sense what things were stressing me, and she was dead on. i felt like i was with a psychic, it was so cool. im definately interested in learning more about this, so ill let you know what i find.
