The bathroom remodel (envisioned roughly 4 years ago) is finally happening. There are now french doors off the master bathroom that lead across the 2nd floor deck to my costume shop above the garage. So awesome!

Sadly, just as I get this house to my liking - we may be looking at moving. Dudley's offices are all moving to the far north side. I hate North Houston - for so many reasons I don't even know where to begin - but we'll start with I-45 being the main line into Houston - and the entirety of it's ghetto-ness. Driving up I-45 literally looks like a shithole. One giant, billboard infested, un-manicured, trailer-home lots and neon signs for sex shops shit hole. I also loathe the "Hey we're a gold nugget in the middle of giant turd" Woodlands.

The commute from where we are on the SW side is 1 hour without traffic. Depending on how early he leaves, he'd be looking at roughly 90 minutes with traffic. That's 3 hours a day of driving. That's simply not going an option (never mind the toll fees and gas costs). Of course, one can hope for telecommuting, but it's hard to know how tolerant they will be on that - primarily because I'm sure EVERYONE is going to try to get away with it. Who would blame them? The new campus is ditching private offices for an open concept floorplan - you show up, get your shit out of a locker, find an open desk and work. No walls, no cubicles... just a sea of desks. Where's your team-mate's desk today? There's an app for that. Obviously since it's not "your" desk, there will be no personalized areas, photos of wives, etc.

59 North towards Atoscocita has some nice options (looking at land to custom build) - but we have zero friends on that side of town. May as well move to Arkansas. Pretty sure nobody is going to drive that far to visit us. Also, having grown up in nearby Kingwood - feels very odd to be back in that area.... like revisiting my very distant past.

290/Grand Pkwy is less desirable, but equally affordable, close enough of a commute to manage and close enough to friends to still hope for occasional visits. But damn, 290 is almost as nasty as I-45. Like, being the runner up to shitsville isn't a great selling point.

The only reason I'm even considering the move, though - is we've agreed we both want custom.
