Joy of joys!  My first proper client came for a fitting today  and the toile was good!

I was VERY NERVOUS!  esp as she has some 'issues' with her figure, not least that she's lost 5st very quickly!  I wasn't sure how the 'issues' would show up in real life, but corsets are wonderful for hiding a multitude of sins it seems!

There are a few tweaks needed to make it perfect, and she wants detachable straps which I think I have an idea of how to do (she doesn't want eyelets and ribbons), and I am totally alarmed by the wrinkles on the pics because the wrinkles weren't apparent in real life!

I've got to make it a teensy bit longer,  nip the waist in, and make the gap at back a little bit wider (I deliberately did it without a gap as it is to be worn under her wedding dress and I wanted to show her what it looks like closed),  but other than that, i'm pretty damn pleased!

The other thing which i'm pleased about in a funny way is that she called a few other corset providers before she got to me .. she had a fitting at "What Katie Did" but wasn't pleased with their idea of "partially' bespoke ... so she then called a famous British corsetiere who I have mentioned before, but she said that Mrs Famous wasn't very nice, and then she was recommended my name by two completely independent sources and so me it is ...

Anyway, my point about the Famous Corsetier, is that it just goes to show that service and attitude are more important ... I aspire to the famous corsets .. and wouldn't be vain enough to say mine will be as good .. but I am heartened by the fact that I was chosen not because of the money (my client works in film and tv so can afford whichever), but because she felt more comfortable with me...
