I love pattern cutting. I didn't know I did until I learned how to do it. I am not sure if it's the process of making that I like the best. My love of pattern cutting is not restricted to corsetry. I would rather not buy a pattern because I like to work out how it's done flat.
So I like to take a picture, and figure it out..
This is from an old V&A book about "fashionable ladies in the 18th c". I do like a good strappy corset. In the actual V&A on the 3rd floor, there is a section on "costume" and in there amongst all sorts of other inspirational stuff, is a 'harness' used for a Peter Pan production years ago. The harness looks just like a strappy corset - I took a picture of it for inspiration. I don't know why I love strappy corsets, but I do .. perhaps a fetish element?
Anyway .. I started drafting this strappy corset a few weeks ago, and am doing quite well. The plan is to make it up in black shiny satin with silver flossing.
Then when I was clearing out my 'desktop' at work, I found a patent that i'd screenshotted godknowswhen ...
Quite similar, but not the same lines at the bottom back.
Anyway, i've done the first toile and it needs a few tweaks. I did it on a easless full body block but lacking a good stretch of time to get really into it, I've kind of forgotton the details. SO frustrating!
The front is simple enough - the boob area needs a bit of attention
and the back worked out great too
It's just a question of fit now.
I can't bear to wish my life away under any cirucmstances, but oh how I hope the next two weeks pass quick!
