Manic

It's been another manic week .. dotted with a few exciting acquisitions  to take the humdrum away ..

First off, I live near a posh little village called "Woodstock" (of Winston Churchill / Blenheim Palace fame), where once was a shop called "Silken Dalliance" .. What a fabulous name for a silk shop!  Silken Dalliance ... what images it conjures ...

Anyway .. the lady who owned the shop closed it down for some reason, and now her quite considerable stock of silk, lives in her basement at home.  Rolls and rolls as far as the eye can see .. and guess what?  She doesn't want it!  So I bought some and here is my little haul collected today, there's about 60 metres here, some of it destined for my shop.  Oh how I sighed when I picked it up this morning..

The other purchase I made after a sale ... Maisie my monstor machine is leaving tomorrow courtesy of Ebay - I just don't have room for an industrial even though I do love her .. Instead - following the sewing machine conversation over at "corsetmakers" - I have found a lovely Singer 201K to keep me company in my new sewing room upstairs.  Here she is, I call her  "Sabrina the Stitch Witch".  She was born on 15 December 1953.  I just love the fact that Singer make it so easy to date and place every single machine they ever made!  I also have one in the loft, part of a treadle, which dates back to 1898.  It probably made corsets! WOW!

I'm at a bit of a crossroads in life right now, but more on that in my next post perhaps.
