I did remember to stitch before work & tonight's work plan

Nov 21, 2013 11:41

So tomorrow before going to work I may finish the basting (and blat out the side/shoulder seams) thusly getting back on track.

Getting my haircut after work, and he's not far from home, so I'll be home in time to stitch some more.  I'll work on the bodice first ie neck facing and gathering stitches.Thursday haircut + waist & sleeves cuffs, Friday insert sleeves.

I did remember to not snooze-button quite so much this morning and after I was dressed & caffeinated I did indeed get back on track, with only 10 minutes effort.

I usually don't have to micro-step quite so much on an envelope pattern (on costumes I do if I've self drafted or am changing them) and when I do it's so that I can quickly remember what to do & not waste time going "ermmm" or even worse "d'oh, i gotta unpick cos I should have X first".

This week I'm doing it with a packet pattern cos I'm slightly tinkering but more because I'm feeling blergh and would just sit like a stunned mullet when I get home if I didn't have a deadline and no backup costume.

So I can remember what I'm doing tonight it's:
- overlock shoulder/side seams
- attach neck facing (not interfacing it cos it's a nightie)
- seam/overlock & hem skirt lining
- do gathering stitches with both skirt+lining layers together
- cut/attach front button bands
- cut sleeve cuffs & do sleeve hem gathering threads

Then on Friday night  I can
- stitch the underbust seam
- apply elastic to underbust seam
- stitch sleeve cuffs
- insert sleeves
- real buttonholes or ball-socket snaps under decorative buttons (both front/sleeves)
