So far this costume's fabric is from the stash. Not only is the stripe fabric been in the stash for a couple of years, but the cotton I'll line the bodice with too.
I ratted through my tub of white fabric and found 3m of 150cm wide white self stripe lawn for ruffles , yayyy and I have a choice as I have 2m of 150cm self stripe lawn in black I can use for trim. Is this the time to say that actually, I wanted green ruffle trim, but will go with using what I have. I don't even know what I bought the white for, unless it was to make a petticoat/skirt for 1780s era.
I'm deciding if I need to take a tuck in my white linen petticoat or make a new one that's 4" (10cm) shorter. How else are they going to see my ankles! Saving time might be the deciding factor here.
I'd also like to replace the front cable tie boning with flat steels, but don't think that's going to happen. Mainly cos I need to buy the flat steels and get them delivered. Even if I had them to had, I'd have to cut, tip and switch them over. I'd need to use 6mm steels or resew the channels. Like that's going to happen!
