McCall's 7803 + first time submission

hi~ i've commented a couple times but haven't really had much to share. However, i know i've seen a few questions about lolita patterns and i wanted to share a mccall's one i picked up recently! I've also got some pics of how it looks irl~

McCall's 7083 "Loli-able Dress Pattern"

First off, McCall's patterns are almost always on sale at JoAnn's. Never pay full price for these patterns! :> This was $2~
Second note, definitely size down. I am between a dress size 14-16, and I was swimming in the 16. I tailored it a bit and added a waist tie but still.
Third, make puffed sleeves. the sleeves on this dress are v frumpy >< there are lots of tutorials on how to make puffed sleeves, but i cheated and basically just made the arm hole width the same, while making the shoulder ease a much larger curve. then you just gather.

wow paint is terrible.

Then i added a ton of trim and details to make it actually look lolita and not just like a regular old dress. woo! i do buy lace from Taobao, however this lace is from JoAnn's. Usually JoAnn's only has nasty raschel lace, but sometimes you get lucky and find some nice embroidered lace on spools.

the lace bustle was added by hand because i am a sucker for lace everything everywhere all the time always.

Finally, the material i used is kind of heavy so i added horsehair braid to the hem of the skirt. that makes it pouf in addition to a petticoat. i'll probably be adding tulle to the lining as well, for more pouf. it's lolita. you can never have enough pouf.

i also am a BIG DUMB CHEATER and believe in the magic of hot glue. never be afraid to hot glue.

Hope this helps! All together, this took about 12 hours. most of that was in the bustle though. can't avoid hand sewing when you're bustlin' :]
