Petticoat HEEEELP!!! (Please!)
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to make a couple of petticoats (an A-line and a bell/cupcake shape) and have a problem that's currently standing in my way...
So, basically where my problem lies is the tiers. With what I've read about A-lines it seems that the tiers gradually grow longer and then are gathered to half their length (example taken from another post with another comment: I take two 5yrd strips for my bottom tier. Then one 5 yrd strip. Then half a 5yrd strip. Work from the bottom up gathering the lowest tier into the upper tier. So that 10 yrd strip becomes 5, the 2.5 yrd strip becomes 1.25 then I gather it to my waist and sew a waist band.), it seems logical to me that this would make a gradually widening petti leading to an A-line...
My main question is about the bell shaped -- how to you get the shape?? Any suggestions, thoughts or hints, anyone can give me would be great! Thanks!
