Bodice Help: Modifying Bodyline L066

Jan 08, 2015 19:51

I have run into a really frustrating snag on my current sewing project. I love this dress, the softness of the material, the color, the collar; everything by the cut. I want to salvage it, but I'm completely stuck. Please help!

Initially when I bought this OP, I was planning on remaking with the sole purpose of adding long, white sleeves to it. I adored the look of it, and wanted red back in my wardrobe. Something akin to this, but leaving the bodice essentially intact.

The dress fit (though the amount of material gathered into the skirt left something to be desired), and the color complimented my skin and hair very nicely. The cut of the bodice, however, made things an issue. On someone as busty as I am, the bottom of the bodice ends literally in the middle of my bust, making things very, very uncomfortable and the fit awkward.

I bought a second one to splice the two together. The skirt was a piece of cake, and I punched out both sleeves in about 4 hours. Yet again, the bodice is ruining me. I have no idea how to progress from here. Initally, I thought that using the waist-ties was the right idea, but 6 hours later, nothing's come of it. Someone help! D: I want to salvage this project!
