Hey everybody! Its been al long time since I posted here and I've missed it! I must confess its mainly down to college and doing fashion there- I'm rather committed and pulled a lot of all-nighters! After a long absence, I think its time to get started up again! Today I'll be posting an unregistered project and a project registration! Under the cut peeps ^^
if I'm doing this wrong do say, I'm unaware if anything has changed!
This was a fairly quick project involving adding a bodice to a skirt to make it into a one piece. The skirt is a print replica of
BABY's Merry Sweet Castle. I bought it off a friend for cheap ;3
To convert it into dress, I made a simple bodice- the type that can be counted as either OP or JSK, depending on who you're talking to- out of some nice soft corded velour. I thought that it'd make a nice contrast against the skirt fabric as it is a rougher material, and some of the colour is faded so I needed something to balance that out. The velour was a bit stretchy and thus I had a jod working with it getting it to not stretch and become larger than the lining fabric (normal anti-static lining to match the lining the skirt already had). I didn't add a fastening to the dress, instead made a shirring panel in the back which lets it slide comfortably over my head and accommodate an increasingly large bust measurement! The sleeves are elasticated cap sleeves.
The neckline is decorated with some black tulle lace embroidered with a pink floral design that matches the flowers in the print nicely! I then made an array of roses out of scrap lining fabric and stitched those on top for texture, there is also a hint of soft chemical lace at the top. Over this I stitched a few lavender and black ribbon bows for a little prettiness.
To the hemline of the skirt I added another tier of black gathered tulle lace under the already existing tier, which i stitched down with an embroidery stitch to make the skirt transition more smoothly into the lace. At regular points along the hem I also added black ribbon bows with guipure daisies.
All in all, I spent around £10 on this dress, especially seeing as I used a lot of scraps! Only took a few hours to make too ^^
I made this to match my merry sweet castle replica OP refashion, using the same techniques and materials. The base is a plain plastic headband wrapped with the same black ribbon I used on the dress, then over that some of the flower lace. I made some more of the roses out of lining fabric scraps, and added lilac ribbon bows.
I have to say that I am very proud of the result and I'd like to make more, especially as it didn't take too long! And as I only used scraps its a good way to use up my stash too >w<
I'm also registering this project. Its a peignoir and headdress, so not strictly speaking lolita, however i do plan to be wearing it in lolita coordinates more than anything else. This particular one focuses on textile manipulation more than technical construction, so should be interesting!
Project Title : black fae peignoir
Short Project Description: a peignoir that focuses on textile texture and fabric manipulation. Its unusual for a lolita piece, however I want to wear this for dark cult party kei too. In a lolita outfit it will make the outfit pop as an OTT gothic or punk coord!
Projected Deadline: September 10th latest (moving away shortly after that). However I doubt I will take more than a week.
Pattern(s) Used: self drafted!
Materials needed: I only need black voile and synthetic lining, both of which i have already (I have leftover lining from my last project and found some voile on sale!)
Challenges or obstacles : fire hazards. I'm going to be using heat to manipulate the fabric and give it its awesomeness however I haven't had an accident along those lines yet so here's hoping!
Project Title : black fae flower crown
Short Project Description: a flower crown headdress to match the peignoir that focuses on textile texture and fabric manipulation.
Projected Deadline: September 10th latest (moving away shortly after that). Will probably take less than an hour to be honest.
Pattern(s) Used: random cut and sew jobby.
Materials needed: black voile, lining, alice band, ribbon.
Challenges or obstacles : fire hazards.
