Mass project registration

Jan 31, 2014 21:54

I haven't posted here in years I think *cringe* and it's high time I did so again. (legendary laziness/procrastination ftw)
My industrial sewing machine has since then broken so I will be either using home sewing machine(the horror!) or hand-sewing for an indefinite period of time. Happy happy joy joy! Thank heavens I like hand-sewing DD:

I'm gonna start a few new garments and once they're finished, I'll do a huge project dump in about 3-4 months or so because I am pretty darn sure that I have finished nigh on almost ten pieces already and there are just as many in the waiting list too though I won't register all of them right now.

Project Title : Firebird Garment(and maybe a bag)
Short Project Description: I'm going to make a garment based on this print from Spoonflower, based on one of my three favorite fairytales ever http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/459028
I plan for this one to be a slightly more formal garment than what I already have. No lace if necessary, no extreme detailing, save for maybe waist ties or a shirred back(maybe). This also could end up as a corset dress, depending on how my plan changes.
Projected Deadline: indefinite. Preferably before grad next year but I could finish it by my birthday this year, if all goes well.
Pattern(s) Used: I'll just custom draft it myself or get the bodice pattern from a gosuloli mook. The bag I will draft.
Materials needed: The firebird print as linked, a plain one with stars and a matching spots one(I think with the last one. Not too sure)

http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/644186
Challenges or obstacles : I haven't actually ordered the fabric yet... And my sewing machine is broken so such a large project is going to be a pain in the butt what with sleeves and potentially shirring! The fabric will also take a good chunk out of my wallet too because Spoonflower. And laziness. And uni.

Project Title : Gothic Houses jsk
Short Project Description: A summer black on white JSK that I could wear just by itself or with a summery blouse underneath.
Projected Deadline: Next meet(goodness knows when that is)
Pattern(s) Used: A modified pattern from a gosuloli mook(no 14, pattern 38). I have taken the top part and made it so it's a drop waist bodice and I'll do whatever I feel should be the skirt part.
Materials needed: zipper, thread, gothic manors and houses fabric(which I have), some lace(which I have)
Challenges or obstacles : My laziness and my lack of a sewing machine. I can probably make this in less than a week, even with the hand-sewing if I tried.

Project Title : Chandelier skirt
Short Project Description: I'm planning to make a semi-sweet/semi-classic skirt for summer.
Projected Deadline: I will probably start at the same time as my chiffon underskirt. No deadline.
Pattern(s) Used: Nil
Materials needed: Chandelier print fabric(obtained), thread, elastic, maybe some lace to trim the hem. I have a supply of very soft but ever-so-slightly ita-ish lace that I could use to put over the hem and stop it from fraying and the very bottom could peek out from underneath to give a scalloped effect
Challenges or obstacles : Laziness and can't think of a good design. I also have a very limited amount of fabric (1.5m and a fat quarter to be precise) so at the very most, it'll have pintucks and no ruffling whatsoever. I may have enough to make a detachable bow, with any hope.

Project Title : Black chiffon underskirt and sash
Short Project Description: Something to wear under my somewhat shorter skirts and my bustle-back skirt.
Projected Deadline: ASAP. I think I'll start as soon as my Gothic Houses JSK is done because it'd be a perfect match.
Pattern(s) Used: Tutorial from http://lotvdesigns.blogspot.co.nz/2011/05/tutorial-chiffon-underskirt-sash.html
Materials needed: Elastic, black lining, black chiffon, thread
Challenges or obstacles : Laziness and I also have never worked with chiffon before. I've also lost my chiffon and lining somewhere in my closet. I won't be able to machine sew this, even if I get my sewing machine going at all.

Project Title : Black petticoat
Short Project Description : I gave away one of my pettis to a friend and now I need another one for one of my heaviest skirts.
Projected Deadline: Nil
Pattern(s) Used: Nil. I'll do it as I go along.
Materials needed: organza, fray stoppa, newspaper(for the fray stoppa), thread, elastic, some lining for the waist, ribbon(preferably organza).
Challenges or obstacles : I just really don't want to do this. I can get off my butt and do this one since I need it the most but I've made three pettis before and it is absolutely chaotic to do everything without a gigantic workspace which I do not have anymore and I absolutely do not want to hand sew this monstrosity. It's not worth the massive headache that ensues after inhaling fray stoppa which is pretty much the same stuff as my dad's 5 second super glue. It's that strong.

Potential projects that I may register after these are all done:
A garment based of this print http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/965481
A replica of AaTP's Libretto Stripe OP

My dear heavens, was that a gigantic project registration thing or what? x.x
Alrighty, time to work on that JSK...
