Unregistered Project Completion(s) - Photo Dump

So I still browse this community, but since switching over to my personal blog, realized that I haven't posted since 2011. It's been over two years. TWO YEARS.

I have obviously made LOTS of stuff in two years, so I thought I would share just the highlights.

These are in roughly chronological order, as best as I could remember, and I'll share a little blurb about making each one as well!

Project Title Tartan Winter JSK
How happy are you with the result? 90%
This is a winter-y JSK made with woolly tartan and velvet trim. The velvet was a pain in the butt to work with, but the effect was worth it. I later replaced the red bow with a black one, because I felt the red was a little too striking. I also made matching black and red headbands. Bodice pattern was modified from a GosuRori mook.

Project Title Constellation JSK
How happy are you with the result? 80%
I fell in love with the constellation fabric on Spoonflower, and happened to have about a yard of navy velveteen hanging around, so I put two and two together. Unfortunately, navy just really isn't my color so I ended up selling it to a friend, but it turned out very nicely. Again, modified GosuRori bodice pattern. The back has shirring and a paneled waistband.

Project Title Pirate Corset-Waist Skirt
How happy are you with the result? 90%
Another Spoonflower find, I just had to have teja_jamilla's pirate fabric. This one turned out amazing--except that I made it about two inches too big! I lost a bit of weight and was apparently working off of old measurements. The zipper broke recently, so I'm planning to remake the entire waistband to fit better and repair the zipper. Pattern completely hand-drafted by me.

Project Title Teatime with the Doctor (birthday present for a friend)
How happy are you with the result? 100%
A cute and simple Dr. Who themed skirt for a friend. It has a half-elastic waist and a matching headband.

Project Title Chiffon blouse, faux fur capelet and matching muff
How happy are you with the result? 90%
So both chiffon and faux fur are serious pains to work with, but in general I think the results are worth the problems. I lined the muff and cape with fleece for body and warmth, and the chiffon blouse is by far my favorite pattern. The only downside is somehow the thread I used is just a shade too gray, so it is unfortunately kind of visible against the black.

Project Title Ivory Marine JSK and Beret
How happy are you with the result? 100%
I made the JSK back in January, and just loved the way it turned out. The fabric is an off-white medium-weight velveteen with a gold pinstripe, and I trimmed it with winter-y pom-pom and military-inspired white braid and gold buttons. It needs two petticoats to hold up the velvet, and I don't get to wear it much here in California, but I still love how it turned out.

Project Title Ivory Marine Vest and Shorts Set
How happy are you with the result? 75%
The vest and shorts came later (in fact, I just finished them last weekend) because I had extra fabric. I'm planning to do a photoshoot with a friend with this set--I'm on the hunt for gold x ivory socks . Unfortunately,I had some issues with the collar on the vest, and I'm still not very happy with how it turned out. It's my first attempt at that kind of vest, so I can kind of forgive myself, but it was still a pain. The shorts are fine, but very basic.

Project Title Black Princess JSK
How happy are you with the result? 90%
Another very recent project, with a design inspired by a couple of different Alice and the Pirates dresses all cobbled together. The main fabric is a medium-weight cotton sateen, and the center panel has a layer of dotted net. The wide lace is embroidered net lace (it has crosses on it) and the rest of the trim is venice lace with velveteen ribbon. I'm still not really sure I like the net at the bottom of the skirt--I may end up taking it off and just doing lace instead. It doesn't have enough body to me. But other than that, I'm very pleased with the results.

I also made several corsets and waist cinchers, lots of commissions, lots of cosplays, and other little odds and ends, but these were the biggest and best Lolita projects of the last two years!
