I've had a windfall of awesome fabrics for awesome prices recently, thanks to several local and online fabric stores having moving or clearance sales. My drive for sewing kind of sputtered out at about that time, unfortunately, but I'm getting back into it and hope to be as productive as possible for the rest of my vacation!
Project title: Aqua Halter Hime JSK (+ accessories)
Short project description: A light turquoise satin JSK with halter ties, a tiered ruffled skirt, multiple detachable bows, and electric blue faux-silk lining. I hope to also make a matching crown and barrettes from the remaining body fabric.
Project deadline: Mid-August.
Pattern(s) used: n/a
Challenges or obstacles: Working with slippery satins and yards and yards of ruffles.
Project title: Wine Jacquard Overdress (+ accessories)
Short project description: A JSK with an open-fronted skirt and ruffle trim, all in a deep red jacquard with raised woven dots. I'll likely be making detachable bows and several hair accessories to match.
Project deadline: Mid-August.
Pattern(s) used: n/a
Challenges or obstacles: I don't have a clear idea of what to do with the bodice- still in the planning stages there.
Project title: Ivory underskirts
Short project description: Two (or more!) underskirts with ruffles and pintucks, to go with the overdress I've got planned. The fabric I'm using is a faux linen in a deep ivory.
Project deadline: Mid-August.
Pattern(s) used: n/a
Challenges or obstacles: All of the little details.
Project title: Pink Tweed JSK (+ bolero)
Short project description: A casual drop-waisted JSK with a scoop neck and two tiers of ruffles on the skirt. I might also attempt to make a matching bolero for a slightly more formal look.
Project deadline: Mid-August.
Pattern(s) used: n/a
Challenges or obstacles: Drafting a bolero pattern for non-stretch fabric and finding out whether I've got enough fabric to line the dress!
Project title: Insertion Lace Sleeveless Blouse
Short project description: A light blouse, possibly in cotton gauze, with detailing involving some antique French lace I've had lying around for ages.
Project deadline: n/a
Pattern(s) used: n/a
Challenges or obstacles: Not screwing up! I can't afford to waste any of that lace.
