Project Title: Ensemble de Fluers JSK
Project Start Date: July 2nd
Planned Finish Date: July 12th
Actual Finish Date: July 10th
Did you make changes from original plan?: The original color scheme was supposed to be cream with blue flowers, but the fabric came out being white. So I had to change all of the cream to white. And that meant I had to make a new underskirt and a new chiffon blouse. I'm keeping the other blouse and the underskirt and I plan to make a high-waisted skirt with the underskirt.
Did you discover something you want to share?: Shabby Fabric's "off-white" color is actually "pure white". like brighter than white, white.
How happy are you with the result?: 100%. I actually think this is my best work yet.

The waist ties are detachable. I had to add the bottom ruffle because the skirt came out about 1.5" too short. The blue bows are detachable so I can change the style of the skirt if I want to.

Ah, the hem on the right side looks shorter, but it isn't. I guess I missed pulling out the fold when I laid it down. (;¬_¬) damn. The shirring panel is 6" wide, and it can stretch to about 13". I have no zipper in the dress, just shirring. I wanted to put corset lacing over the shirring panel, but at the last minute I didn't. Not sure if I'm still happy without it, but all of my dresses have corset lacing. Break the pattern a bit haha.

Close up of bodice detail. The white inset bib thingy is removable, and so are the little blue bows.

Project Title: Rococo Chiffon Blouse in White
Project Start Date: July 11th
Planned Finish Date: July 12th
Actual Finish Date: July 11th
Did you make changes from original plan?: Yes. I messed up one of the cuffs, so I flipped it at the seam and cut it off, and overlayed pretty rose lace. Now you can't see the mistake!! (☞゚∀゚)☞ But I like how it turned out anyway.
Did you discover something you want to share?: I actually found it easier to NOT zigzag or overlock the edges before I sewed the chiffon. My seams came out cleaner and the blouse lays correctly. After the seams were made, I went back and zigzagged them all. Also, if one is having a hard time hemming a chiffon blouse, you can achieve a "rolled" hem with about 5-6 layers of tiny(size 1-2) zigzag stitches on top of one another.
How happy are you with the result?: 100% I like this blouse better than my cream one because it's cleaner and the sleeves aren't too tight.

The blouse looks really shapeless. I didn't put in any of the back seams or side seams. I didn't want to mess with chiffon anymore than I had to. And I only plan to wear this under JSKs anyway, so the back tucks would kinda pointless to do. I fits me well across the bust, which is my main point of concern with blouses. All of the buttons are there for decor, I have snaps behind them again.
