Opinion on Skelanimals--turning one into a purse?

A while ago, the lovely lafarat  posted her adorable Edelweiss the Lamb bag on the sew_loli forums. I was instantly transported to my childhood, when I had a similar lamb plush. Adorable, but... not so much my style anymore.

As I thought about it--incorporating something I've loved since I was a child for a toss-in of nostalgia to the cuteness--I realized what had been sitting in front of me the entire time (quite literally, as one was sitting at the end of my bed). Skelanimals.

I've loved these little critters since I was a kid. I love their cuteness, but that added sense of "morbid-cute"--something that reflects quite a bit in my Gothic Lolita centered wardrobe. As I thought about it, a Skelanimal (particularly one of my favorites, Kit) seemed like a good idea. However.... I want others' opinions. Would a Skelanimal work to make a stuffed-animal-to-purse project?

The specific animal I have in mind is this one: http://skelanimals.myshopify.com/collections/plush-large/products/kit-standing-deluxe-plush

I would put either a zipper of the hidden variety in the center back seam of the plush or a few snaps that I have lying around collecting dust. I already own a black strap from a recent Jo-Anne's sale that I could use on it--and I have plenty of fabric lying around for a pouch lining. So, really, all that's left is for me to get the plush.... But I wanted some opinions. Would this be "loliable"? Or would it be a flop? What suggestions do you have for me? I would love to hear from you, or any tips you might have.

Who knows? Maybe Edelweiss can have a gothic-inclined friend soon.
