I Geek Out About My New Job And Also Tintin

Started a new job as a UI Artist at TinyCo yesterday. I LOVE IT!

Everybody there is so friendly and is helping me settle in really well. Though today was only my second day, I was assigned some work and managed to complete almost all of it.
I know a few of the engineers quite well via Nic, but I have been interacting with two of the other UI artists a lot and they are awesome. ♥
I'm actually working in the San Francisco financial district now. Ordinarily, just being in one of those shiny skyscrapers would give me a huge motivation boost in and of itself, but it is truly the team that I love here. :D

After work yesterday some of us went and saw The Adventures of Tintin at the Metreon.
Very fun, very imaginative movie! I was impressed with how well they managed to translate the "feel" of Tintin into a different-yet-similar aesthetic. The whole Steven Spielberg / Peter Jackson / Steven Moffat creation process blended together in the best possible way. There will be a moment where Moffat's dialogue or Spielberg's camera work or Jackson's ability to make everything five times as good just by touching it will shine though, and you will realize you are watching something wonderful. Also I just about died from laughter during the scene with the cranes. ♥
Gah. And the whole cast was great. Daniel Craig is a badass and I swear Andy Serkiss was born to be mo-capped (which would be weird to say if he hadn't been steadily proving it over the last decade). He gestures and postures like asdfghjkl; and he is somehow able to become this other character entirely. I mean I will not realize it is him because I am so focused on the character. This happened for me again and again during this movie, in fact. I kept forgetting. He was that good. :P
