Intuos4, you sexy thing, you. ♥
Pros:
- Widescreen resolution! Finally, my tablet's proportions match my screen.
- Wayyyy more precise. Oh god I noticed the difference immediately.
- It's black and sleek and beautiful. Damn, it looks gorgeous.
- Features! Holy crap, features! For instance...
- there are eight little buttons on the side that you can set to do whatever keystrokes or functions you need, and then there are tiny little display screens on the tablet next to each button that tell you, in text, what they do. ie., mine are set to things like Step Forward, Step Back, New Layer, Swap Color, etc.
I am way too used to having one hand on the keyboard and the other on the stylus though lulz.
- also via the customizable buttons, you can swap displays, which is awesome if you always have, like, tons of stuff open and are working on multiple monitors. ♥
- there is also a touch wheel that you can set to zoom or pan or change brush sizes.
- The top of the stylus holder screws off, and inside are a whole ton of different nibs, for different types of drawing. :D
- Unpluggable power cord! I know this, like widescreen, has been a feature since forever, but it wasn't the case with Intuos2. I like that I can fold the cord up and pack it away when I want to take the tablet somewhere (like the boyfriend's house).
Cons:
- I spent like 3/4 of my day trying to make the damn drivers work! I used the CD to install so I could easily register at the same time and view the help options and promotional offers and such. I ended up having to uninstall the driver, download the latest one from Wacom's website, and then reinstall again because Photoshop couldn't recognize the pen pressure or brush dynamics. There is like, no support online for this problem, either. :(
- The nib and the surface feel all scratchy when you press them together. I guess it feels a bit more like paper this way, but I really loved the smooth feel of the Intuos2. It was like your hand just glided over the tablet and arts came out. Now I feel like I'm carving away at wooodblocks again. It makes my hand want to tense up, which is badbadbad for my shoulders/back. Then again, maybe I just need to change nibs?
- I miss Tabby-chan. Oh my god I know I'm crazy but I miss him. I've been using that old Intuos2 for seven years, which is a looong time, and now I'm drawing with this cool new Intuos4 and I FEEL LIKE A SLUT. :'( I love you forever, Tabby-chan.
Wells, this is my Yearly Gift from parents! I'm pretty stoked about it.
Also, here is a ninja blowing a kiss that I made the other day.
