Random Ponderings

I learned something today that I probably ought to have known a while ago.
John Barrowman (a.k.a. Captain Jack Harkness of Doctor Who and Torchwood fame) grew up in Scotland, so he has both a Scottish and LA accent and switches between the two at will.

Sometimes when I tell people that I have an English accent when I'm at home with my family and a Californian accent when I'm hanging out with friends they decide I must be "lying" to them with my "fake" accent or something.
This isn't at all true, because the American accent evolved on its own. I just snap in and out of it according to my situation, so both are completely natural to me.

Am jealous of John now, because I can't swap my accents on command like him. People sometimes act like I'm cheating them when I can't "do" my accent for them. :P

He's much rounder now, and the texture, while still flat colors, is properly aligned on the body.
I made his skeleton today and rigged it to the head and body. I can't pose or animate him until I've painted all of the weights though, a very finicky process which will take most of a day at my skill level.
Sloooow going.

My parents went down to San Diego for a few days to help my brother move in to his new dorm. For a while before they left, we were a bit worried because we'd been hearing something scuttle around our air vents, and we saw a mouse come in and out from underneath the house. We've tried scaring them off when we've heard noises in the vents before, but it never seems to work.
My mum talked with a pest control person, and he convinced her that the most humane way to deal with mice is to use a trap, because it kills them very quickly, rather than poison, which can be slow and painful. Also, he assured us that the trap was too small to hurt squirrels or raccoons, which we have a lot of around here.
So, we gritted our teeth and put out a mouse trap and all felt very guilty about it.
The trap was outside by the hole the mouse was using for like four days and nothing happened, until about an hour after my parents left for their trip.
Guess who had to throw away a dead mouse this morning? Dx

ETA: I have this action figure. But I think I might have misplaced his gun. D:
...It came in a set that my mum got me, except that she bought it because of the Doctor + Tardis, which were both significantly better made. >>;
