Part I.

Jason was itching for a fight. He was wound so tight that the muscles on his neck felt as though they were about to rupture and what he saw as he rounded the corner only served to spark his anger further.

A young boy, no more than five or six years old was being manhandled by an overgrown walrus of a man. He was being shaken so hard that Jason could hear the boy’s teeth rattling even though he was still several feet away.

“Let him go,” he growled as he approached. The man seemed oblivious to him and didn’t heed the underlying warning in Jason’s order. He raised a meaty hand to strike the child and Jason lost it. He sprang forward and grasped the man’s arm.

“Touch this child again and it’ll be the last thing you do,” he ground out menacingly.

The man trembled and his beady eyes searched the darkness for a moment before he let go of the child who fell to the hard ground. He fled, quicker than Jason would have thought possible, leaving Jason alone with the little boy. Crap, now what?

Part II.

He peered up at the muscular man through the dark fringe of his messy hair and gave the man a watery smile. He had rescued him from his uncle, hadn’t let his uncle’s fat fist connect with his face and had threatened to do the man bodily harm if he didn’t let go of him and stop shaking him.

Harry looked down at his overly large holey trainers and muttered a barely audible, “Thanks,” to his savior. Suddenly, he realized that he had been completely abandoned by the Dursleys in this strange place. His lips trembled and fat tears trickled down his cheeks.

What am I going to do? I am stranded in America. How am I going to get back to England? Who’ll take me in now?

The Dursleys were always telling him how he should be grateful they had taken him in and that without them, he’d have been placed in an overpopulated orphanage. Will I end up in an orphanage? He’d only heard bad things about them and trembled at the thought, still he had been saved from his uncle's wrath and was thankful for that.
