Mariel bought herself the german translation of the first manga on Friday, I read it on Saturday, downloaded the anime eps 1-6 from some obscure torrent page on Sunday, as well as the Real Action movie. And yesterday night Monika told me that in the US Death Note has already been released up to book 8, so I ordered all of them and other yaoi manga from amazon. Evil, that amazon. Spend over 90€. That's about $120(US). *koff*

The main character, Light Yagami, is a psychopath. He's 17, pretty, a schoolkid, and "bored of this rotten world". He's given the means to kill every human in the world in whatever way he wants by writing their names and the cause of death in a Shinigami's notebook. He does so. He wants to create a crime-free utopia on Earth, thus commences to kill off all criminals and bad people. He feels no remorse, is anal-rententive, extremely intelligent and ambitious and, hell, is a slasher's wet dream together with his adversary L.
