My New Apartment!

Apr 24, 2017 20:41

So a few months ago my bestie Amy and her hubby Garry offered me the rental of the second floor of their house. They let me move in last Friday -- no waiting around for the 1st of the month, woot -- and I am just settling in. It's a new town, two buses to get into the city, but I've walked to the local grocery store and down to the main shopping area and tomorrow I'll take the buses for the first time. It'll take a while to get my footing, I'm sure.

The apartment is HUGE and gorgeous and I'm loving it so far. :)

This is one side of my living room. Amy gave me the cabinet in the corner... I am displaying a plate that my mom received as a wedding gift in there. Check out the trees through the window -- that's my new view! I've gone from living in a high-rise on literally the busiest street in the city only blocks from the downtown core, to watching squirrels and chipmunks (eeeeee CHIPMUNKS!) playing in the backyard and chasing each other up and down the trees.

The other side of the room. Not shown: the huge closet, the door leading out to the deck. :)

My office. This place is so big I have a living room and then an office the same size as the living room. *astounded face* I am using the dark wood dresser to store all my office stuff (that was previously in little fabric boxes), also courtesy Amy and Garry.

The chair was also part of the previously furnished apartment so I kept it. According to Amy it is comfy enough to sleep in. I haven't done more than perch in it as of yet... been a tad busy.

That door leads out to the deck. There's another one in the living room. In between the two rooms is the ginormous bathroom.

The ginormous bathroom. Hard to get a photo of it, but that spa shower that is aaaaamazing. You have to realize that I have lived in cookie-cutter high-rises my entire adult life. Bathrooms are teeeensy. L-shaped living room/dining room, galley kitchen, tiny bedroom. This is like heaven.

Here's the bedroom. Amy and Garry gave me that headboard and end table, too. And not pictured is the big wardrobe on the other wall.

This is my little kitchen. It's fine for my needs.

And my deck! I bought that cute little metal owl today. :)

So now that I'm unpacked and officially moved in, I hope to get back on track to doing things other than being paranoid. I did some writing yesterday (yay 1_million_words word wars!) and though tomorrow will be a write-off (meeting my sister and brother in law, library book sale, lunch, movies... I'll be out literally all day) I do hope to be doing more writing soon.

I've said it before, but I literally have the best friends.
