Catching Up
Whew. It feels like I haven't been around here properly -- aside from filling challenges and posting photos -- in forever. Yet when I look back at my week(s) I'm not sure just what exactly is filling all my time. It's true that I have been more socially active this summer, so maybe that's all it is? Anyhoo, I've still been reading my flist and commenting when I can. I LOVE YOU GUYS. *group hug*
Last weekend I spent the day with Amy... AND GEESE OMG GEEEEEESE. We didn't see any until we were leaving the restaurant (it's on the lake) and then this little guy just wandered on over and actually POSED for me. Pretty sure he was just hoping I'd have food. :D

I love going down to the waterfront, but it takes over an hour to walk there. Still, we've been down a couple of times this summer and still probably have the chance for one more before the weather gets too cold. :)
Other than hanging out with Amy, going to movies and writing, I have still been stalking occasionally checking up on what Mr. Norman Reedus is up to. Yeah, that's the ticket.
This is from San Diego Comic Con. Every other celeb rides by with their windows up and tries to be all incognito, right? Not Norman. He is all "LOVE ME. LET ME LOVE YOU. WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" I just... I love that he loves his fans so much. I love that he GETS IT. (I also love his hair. HAAAAAAAAAIR.)
Then. Then you guys. He has given his support to Cruelty-Free International, which strives to ban cosmetic companies from testing on animals. I THINK I CANNOT LOVE HIM MORE AND THEN HE DOES THIS. (And as a bonus, poses like THIS and makes me melt.)
Norman's also FINALLY putting out a collection of his photos. He'd talked about how there was going to be one 'affordable' version. This one -- the one he just announced -- is $60. SIXTY DOLLARS. This is not affordable in my world, Mr. Reedus.

And the other interesting thing in the 'Reedus fandom' of late is that he has a girlfriend, the lovely Cecilia Singley. (Well, he's had this girlfriend for quite some time now, actually. I just haven't posted about it.) And the reason I am now -- partially -- is because this poor girl is getting soooooo much flack from the fandom. Maybe I am just seeing it more now because I've been doing more intensive stalking oh-so-casual check-ins on the Reedus, but maaaaaan. People are mean and stupid and cruel. So many assumptions made and horrible horrible things said about her or directly TO her online. Thankfully she's pretty forthright with the fans that are decent and has said that she tries to ignore all the hate, and that she knew going in that this was bound to happen. But that can't make it much easier, ya know? Just seeing all the hate spewed her way has made me so much more cynical at fandom in general. I've always been used to having my safe comfy corner of fandom.
So anyhoo, here's Norman and Cecilia getting surprised by a photographer in New Orleans recently. (I think normally they ask the fans not to include Cecilia in the pics, but this guy was sneeeeaky. Thank you, sneakyman.)
There are some advantages to following the Reedus more closely, though. With seeing all the meanness, and the people who tweet him 150+ times in a night begging for a follow, and seeing the people who send him rude, crude sexual remarks, and seeing the people who get all passive-aggressive with him -- it's made me a. appreciate his patience and kindness to his fans all the more, and b. made me less nervous about meeting him (or any celebrity.) Now that I see what he goes through with crazy-fans, I just want to NOT be crazy. I want to be calm and normal. I want to treat him like a person.
And these -- our wristbands for FanExpo omg -- came today. So hopefully I will be able to do that in ONE WEEK WHEN I MEET HIM OMG.
So. I have another busy week coming up. Going to the CNE with Amy, going to FanExpo to meet SO MANY AWESOME PEOPLE OMG with Krystle, and have a birthday party to attend. But I'm gonna try to fit in some funtimes on the computer with you guys as well!
