The best thing -- the thing that makes me happiest -- is writing. I am so pleased with my 2012 output. I ended up writing 67 stories this year (as well as 37 drabbles)! for a total of 127,783 words. Of those, there was only one 11K minibang fic

*nods* You are always the one I think of when I set new goals, because you are always the first to remind me to be realistic. I mean this in an absolutely GREAT way, you are the perfect sounding board for ideas. I mean, the photo a day thing is a perfect example. It is unrealistic to expect to be able to succeed at this. There will be some days when I just can't do it/forget/the camera won't work, etc. I... still decided to do it, heh. If that does happen, it'll just mean that I nearly succeed instead of getting that nice CHECK-mark at the beginning of 2014. I think that's the way I look at most goals, now. Setting them and coming close (and of course, being happy and non-grumpy) is better than setting them too low or not setting them at all.
Sorry, I rambled there. Oh the shock.
Picking a "most fun" fic was DIFFICULT! It was between the sidekick convention and the "fear of flying" one, because I remember just really enjoying writing that one -- and it just flowed so easily, too. Sidekick won for the ending. ;)
It’s funny that you have more than one answer for something you felt was ‘wrong’ lol. Why do we do it to ourselves?
Ugh, I know. Even for someone like me with the whole ego-as-big-as-the-sun with the stories I LOVE that I've written, I still read them and go *squinches nose* oh, except THAT part. Heh. But that's usually in regard to the writing itself, things that I just couldn't get across properly. In the cases I picked, I think the writing is fine, it's WHAT I DID that's "wrong". Daryl leaves his father behind -- deliberately! Yet I wouldn't change it. It's what he had to do.
Disappointed with No Words? ... Well I wish I could read the one in your head then because that one must be DYNAMITE.
Awww. *huggles*
so many POVs!
I KNOW. That was interesting to realize. It's especially interesting, I think, to tackle POVs on characters that you don't particularly care for, to get into their heads and try to see them the way they see themselves. Lori and Shane were good examples, and I think I did right by them. Even Daryl can sometimes fall into this category, because he's so filled with conflict about his own worth.
It was a good year, my friend. :)

--I’m glad you realize this. Goals should never require perfection. And doing something ‘every day’ or ‘never’ is perfection and therefore impossible. At the same time, a goal becomes pointless if you go into it thinking “this is impossible but if I get close I’ve succeeded” because the first part means you think it’s impossible and you’re giving yourself permission to fail - pretty much ensuring that at some point you will - by just shrugging and giving up when you get tired of it. Goals should be difficult but achievable. It’s much better if you can set it up so that it’s ‘a picture every day for at least 300 out of 365’ or if you allow yourself to ‘catch up’ by posting several pics at once to ‘catch up’ on missed days etc (even this is really unrealistic). I think you touched on this but the most important thing to keep in mind is the objective, and not the goal so much. If it's 'not to be grumpy' then that's how you measure your success, not by CHECKs. :)

--Me too. Even less shocking.
Hee fear of flying was nice too. I liked when Matt got over himself enough to remember he wasn't the only one flipping his shit. I liked all your sexy_right stuff. :)

--Well you know I agree there. Starting a new fandom and getting know characters is fun and breeds inspiration. But it’s a challenge and takes skill - which I think you’ve really demonstrated this year.
It was a good year, my friend. :)
--Indeed. :D

BTW, we were talking about action plans the other day at work. Not spreadsheets though.
