Fandom Snowflake Challenge, Day Two!

Jan 02, 2012 08:47

Post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.

1. Colder in My Skin Part One / Part Two by seperis. April 2004. Queer as Folk / NC-17 / Vampire AU

My absolute favourite piece of Queer as Folk fanfic; quite possibly my absolute favourite piece of fanfic EVER. This is simply stunning. With non-linear narrative and lyrical prose, this is dark, haunting, and surreal. Definitely not for the faint of heart, but if you decide to take a chance I guarantee you will never forget it.

2. Kiss by max_q. February 2011. Live Free or Die Hard / Fanvid

I find myself coming back to this whenever I need a smile. John and Matt don't give us a lot of canon moments to work with, but max_q makes some excellent choices and pairs them with frenetic editing and perfect pacing to come up with this little gem.

3. In The Summer, In The City by persnickett. March 2011. Live Free or Die Hard / NC-17

Snick has written so many amazing stories, but this one - affectionately known as Lemonade Fic -- is the one that stands out to me as the crème de le crème. It's not only perfectly in character, but it's sexy and hot and sweet and funny and did I mention hot, and it makes me squirm with happiness (and um, other happy-place things) each and every time I read it (which may be a lot.) You should read it, too.
