OLYMPICS!
I expect to spend a lot of the next two weeks in front of the television. *cuddles olympics*
Random thoughts on the Opening Ceremonies:
- Anthems have a specific melody. DO NOT BE FUCKING WITH THEM.
- There are now four giant phallic symbols in the middle of the arena.
- Having the men that line the athletes entrance dressed in white outfits and little toques was... ill-conceived. You do not want your men to look like giant condoms.
- The flag bearer for Mongolia is gorgeous.
- I want all the countries who have only one athlete in the Games to win. I don't even care where they're from.
- I may have gotten teary-eyed at Canada's entrance. If that was so, I blame hormones.
- BRYAN ADAMS!

- I love the dancing. Love love love.
- Cultural play. "And now the energy ring radiates out toward the audience." I don't know about you, but I'm just hearing "YOU. SHALL NOT. PASS!"
- Gandalf impression AND giant lighted snow puppet. I. Just. Canada kind of rules.
- The music and dancing is great, though. Got a real fondness for the fiddle.
- WAIT. Did they say the lead dancer was ASHLEY MACISAAC? Figured he'd show up during the fiddle segment, but wow, he's changed. Also, why so CLOMPY, tappers? I hear 'tap', I think 'Gene Kelly' and his lightness on his feet. This 'stomp' kind of tap kinda hurts.
