I go back in to work tonight at 11pm, so I'm officially no longer on vacation. One week just isn't long enough! The first 4 days were taken up by Toronto and Pride; the 5th day I was a complete sloth and just laid on the sofa watching mindless renovation shows and old sitcoms (I really must get Frasier DVDs!); I spent ALL DAY Thursday with my sister Margie (which was really nice); so I really only had Friday and Saturday with no plans and no sloth-ness! On the plus side, I have another week off at the end of August -- 3 days for Stockbridge and then another 6 to myself. Wheee!
We went out to the cemetery again today and discovered that they have done the engraving on the headstone. I'm SO glad it's been done, but at the same time it was really sad. It just makes everything so final, if that makes any sense. We went into the little garden shop and bought one of those floral headstone toppers -- it looks really pretty. Next Saturday we're going to go out and buy the stone border and some flowers and do some planting. I really want Mom's area to look pretty. Also, my mom loved flowers and plants and used to work at a florists, so I know she'd appreciate her plot looking really good.
Afterward my sister and brother-in-law came in to hook up my mom's old TV set (which I got when she passed away, to replace mine which is 20 years old and does not have the doodads required for that digital cable which is going to be necessary in 2009.) While flicking channels to make sure it worked, we came across Wimbledon. What an exciting match! I continued watching when they left because I had to know who won. I was rooting for Roger Federer all the way. Also? Roger is very cute. I wonder why I did not know this. I remember when I used to LOVE tennis, back in the Jimmy Connors-Bjorn Borg-John McEnroe days when dinosaurs roamed the earth. I used to know all the schedules and get up early and stay up late to watch all the matches. It was exciting then. Then it seemed there was this era of powerhouse servers and very little volleying and I lost interest. Perhaps I'll have to start watching again.
I've been reading my flist every day but I still seem to have a hard time actively participating and commenting. Even though my mom's been gone almost two months now, a lot of little things still seem "harder" than they used to be. It's kind of frustrating.
I managed to completed two goals this week for
