1. what did you end up getting?

2. possible side effects... I was wondering if it was a good read or not.

It's a compaq presario. Which yes, is actually an HP, which I said I would never get. But the Acer's sucked, the Toshiba's came with *nothing*, and this one gave me the biggest bang for my buck. :)

Jehn says it's not as good as the other stuff of his she's read, but it was the only book she had available at the time (she's great about lending out her books.) I loved it.

01) I'm glad you and Sabrina are becoming good friends.

02) It seems you're fast reader, fast writer, fast whatever. Or you know very well how to organize your time. I've read only 8 novels so far. OK, 6 of them had over 500 pages, super-mini font, but still ... And you've already read 21! Can I regard your Gold and Silver Shines as a novel? If so, then it would mean I've read 9 novels.

1. We're still acquaintances at the moment. I'll all tentative with her, because of the aforementioned technophobeness. *lame*

2. I am a fast reader. I actually haven't had time to read in several weeks! And re: Gold and Silver Shines... well, it was written for novel writing month. I say, count it. Hee!

BTW, I'm going to check out if my library has Weaveworld by Clive Barker. And one more little question as a precaution: in case they don't have its translation, is his English difficult?

I'm sure you'll be fine. But if you want to check out something by Clive Barker, I recommend "Imagica". It's my favourite of his novels, I re-read it all the time.

LOL, your subject line pretty much summarizes the loves of my life ♥

Gosh, the thought of a friend getting new hardware is enough to make *me* seriously happy.

That came out sounding more dodgy than I'd intended :-P

Oooooh I so look forward to sim!posts :-D I've been putting off playing the game for a few weeks now, mainly because I've got school and all this writing to do. But OMG SUMMER.

So, you know, you'll have to play and post pics for me, so I don't get withdrawal symptoms. *loves logic*

Incidentally, the Goths were the first family on The Sims 2 that I played.

And thanks for the book reviews. I'm sooo behind on my reading, too, and I haven't even written a review for any of the books I've finished. This is probably another thing that will end up being relegated to the summer.

I'm ecstatic to see you in the land of the living LiveJournal again *smooches*

The sad thing is, I doubt I'll even have time to look at Sims until... Friday? I swear, my life is so busy. But that's a good thing, I suppose. I'd just love to have 4 days or something like that off in a row. That's not gonna happen till Pride in June. Maaaan.

Slipstream, meet Sabrina. Sabrina, this is my computer, Slipstream. *nudges them together*

Catching up on my flist and just read your review of The Road. You've answered the questions I asked you earlier tonight in my LJ. :) I too wondered about not eating the dead bodies. The only explanation I can come up with for this is that maybe the story was supposed to be more of a morality tale/parable. If so, then McCarthy didn't want to taint the boy because he was the one carrying the fire/spark for a new generation of human beings.

Augusten Burroughs. I read Running with Scissors and Dry. In Dry, he details his life as an alcoholic NY ad exec. I loved both of them. I did not know about Side Effects so will definitely go get this.

Yay for new computer!

*Sabrina twinkles at Slipstream*

You are probably right. Blech. I mean, blech to the parable and not blech to you being right. ;) I suppose there is also the 'slippery slope' consideration - start with old dead bodies and maybe soon you won't be so averse to creating your own new dead bodies. I'd like to have seen those kinds of questions addressed in the novel.
