OMG I HAVE A NEW COMPUTER!!!!

... It is still in the box. It will remain in the box until Saturday, when my nephew Robbie comes back to set it up. But still... NEW COMPUTER!!!

It is a laptop, which apparently must be called "notebook" now. It is pretty and shiny. It has 1G of RAM and 120G hard-drive and a superfast processor, and the computer geek at the store said that it would play The Sims. OMG I BOUGHT THE SIMS. And I bought a wireless mouse because that touchpad is hard to use (but not as hard as I thought, so that's good.) Also, did I mention it is pretty and shiny? Because it is.

I literally did the dance of joy in the store. Robbie was only mildly embarassed. :p

And now, THIS.. is American Idol.

Phil Stacey sings "Where The Blacktop Ends" - Okay, I never thought I'd say this, but: I liked Phil. I'm pretty sure that's one of the signs of the Apocalypse. It's the best he's looked, he worked the crowd well, and his voice was strong. He showed energy and power.

Jordin Sparks sings "A Broken Wing" - Just lovely! Jordin shines when she just stands still and sings. Her vocals are so good (I caught one off-key moment) and she performs the hell out of songs like this just by feeling the lyrics and using her facial expressions. That's when she blows me away.

Sanjaya Malakar sings "Let's Give Them Something To Talk About" - Oh Sanjaya. You make me giggle. I hope the hair is enough to keep you in this week.

Lakisha Jones sings "Jesus Take The Wheel" - I hate this song, and truncating it made it feel very choppy. It sounded like Lakisha's voice was actually giving out during the faster portion of the song, plus she seemed to be fighting the band, which is why I think it sounded like she was shouting.

Chris Richardson sings "Mayberry" - We often listen to a country station at work, and everytime I hear Rascal Flatts I think of how nasally the singer is, and how Rascal Flatts would be a perfect fit for Chris. So it doesn't surprise me at all that he chose this song. And it did actually work for him. Also, Chris is right in that he is nasally every week, so why would him being nasally tonight would suddenly be a surprise to Simon?

Melinda Doolittle sings "Trouble Is A Woman" - Yeah yeah. Good performance. Hated the redneck-y song.

Blake Lewis sings "When The Stars Go Blue" - Oh yeah! That transition from the normal key to the falsetto and then back again? That is how it's DONE, baby. I chatted briefly to my sister on the phone after the show, and she put it this way: Lakisha and Melinda have to hit the big power notes for the wow factor, but Blake gets the wow factor just by going out there and singing like that. Awesome.

My Predictions:
Bottom Three: Sanjaya, Lakisha, Phil
Who Should Go Home: Sanjaya
Who Will Go Home: Lakisha

.

fucking technology, family, tv: american idol
