American Idol... Top 9

Blake Lewis sings "Mack the Knife" - FANTASTIC! Smooth classic vocal, and the perfect style for him. Best male voice in the competition, by far. Absolute best song choice he could have made. Loved it.

Phil Stacey sings "Night and Day" - I just don't hear where this guy is a good singer. I really don't. He sounded like he was singing through a plugged nose, and his phrasing sounded weird to me. And he creeps me out.

Melinda Doolittle sings "I've Got Rhythm" - Hated the beginning, and hated the manufactured "big moments". This song, IMO, needs fun, not glory notes. I'm bored by her. BORED.

Chris Richardson sings "Don't Get Around Much Anymore" - Ouch! I honestly think Chris is off-key/flat/sharp/whatever MORE than he's on, every time he sings. But I still want to pinch his cheeks and call him a cutie-pie.

Jordin Sparks sings "On A Clear Day" - It feels like the band let her down a bit here, and her vocals were so strong that she needed more band backup. Didn't like her low notes, but the rest of her vocal shined. Lovely clear tone.

Gina Glocksen sings "Smile" - I think she sounded very 'off', and there was absolutely no connection with the lyrics... so much so, that her big shit-eating grin throughout the whole song was just creepy. Not Phil-level-creepy, but still creepy.

Sanjaya Malakar sings "Dancing Cheek to Cheek" - Oh Sanjaya. When I have been telling people to just listen and they'll hear that you really can sing, why must you prove me wrong? This was SO the wrong song choice. He needs something with longer notes, probably faster. This was "Steppin' Out" levels of bad. I cringe.

Haley Scarnato sings "Ain't Misbehavin'" - LOVED this. I think Haley nailed it with a really strong vocal and the best presentation of the night. She connected well with the lyrics. Really fun, young performance.

Lakisha Jones sings "Stormy Weather" - How FABULOUS does she look? Yowza. Didn't like the changes at the beginning, but wow they worked at the end, and she really connected with the lyrics as well. Really great performance.

My Predictions:
Should Be Bottom Three: Sanjaya, Chris, Phil
Will Be Bottom Three: Sanjaya, Haley, Phil
Who Should Go Home: Sanjaya (I want him to stick around, but that was clearly the worst of the night)
Who Will Go Home: Phil (eh, this was a crap shoot. Picking a bottom three was SO hard. Could be Chris R or Gina or Haley and I wouldn't be at all surprised. But I'd miss Haley.)

Random: My sister called me tonight on the AI commercial break after Melinda sang, to say: "Something about Melinda has been bugging me and I couldn't figure out what it was, and tonight it just hit me. She has no neck!" I think it's hilarious that my sister just figured that out. LOL!
