Celebrity Duets -- Finale

Sep 29, 2006 22:01

But before the winner is announced... we have to sit through a lot o' crap. Which is really no different than any other Celebrity Duets night.

The 8 original contestants did a group number of 50's songs. It was frightening, okay? I am pretty sure Lea Thompson scarred me for life. Jai had this look on his face like WTF?

Hal sang (something I've never heard of): I've said a few times that I think Hal can sing, and if he'd just sing and not scream he'd be good.

I WAS WRONG.

This was horrible. HORRIBLE. I take back everything I said about Hal potentially being good. ALFONSO FOR THE WIN BABY.

Then there was some duet by Gladys Knight and Smokey Robinson. When they have to keep telling us that these are legends, it's a problem.

Lucy sang (something that sounded vaguely familiar) and did her Barbarella impression. I actually really liked her growly voice. She was very... theatrical. That was fun.

Next it's Boyz II Men, who appear to be doing a medley. I recognize the first song. Wayne Brady sings with them, and he's better than most of the contestants.

Alfonso sang "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" (yay a song I recognize!) and he NAILED IT, BABY. Great great great. Okay, the ending was a little wobbly, but the rest of the song was perfect. He so deserves to win this thing.

Another group number. Hal crawled up on the piano to croon a love song to David Foster. Okay, that was cute. You know how Michael thinks only about himself and says that Brian should have left Justin to die and blurts out the cancer thing after telling Justin not to and doesn't want Ben to interfere when people are beating up Hunter on the street and you just hate hate hate hate Michael, and then he does something like stay with Brian during the Liberty Ride and you are like FUCK NOW YOU ARE MAKING ME LIKE YOU AGAIN. Hal is like that, okay? Except, you know, not gay. Heh.

And now Hal has been eliminated. WHEEEEE.

Aaaaaaaand... ALFONSO WINS. (Wow, Xena fans, you surprise me.)

Let's hope this show never ever ever comes back on TV. ... Unless Randy chooses to participate, of course.
