Well, I'm finally willing to accept that it is, in fact, August. Which means summer is slowly drawing to a close. There are so many things I had plans to do this summer that I still haven't gotten around to. It's kind of depressing. Even though I know that this fall won't be much different from my summer (since I'm only taking one class), I can't help but wish summer would last forever.
Here's my list of things I want to do before summer ends:
- Go swimming! (preferably at a pool; who knows what lurks in the depths of Lake Mendota)
- Go to some sort of amusement park (or Ren Faire would be good too)
- Go to Chicago, see some friends
- Get a library card
- Spend a whole afternoon writing
- Purchase a watermelon. Obtain bottle of vodka. Cut hole in watermelon. Insert bottle of vodka. Eat.
- Have a picnic! (Preferably with above watermelon.)
- Build a sand castle.
- Go bar hopping with friends (I actually haven't done this in several months)
- Drink beer on the Terrace (I planned on doing this all the fucking time over the summer, and I haven't done it since before finals week.)
- Finish research analysis so I can actually enjoy the last few weeks of summer without having it hanging over my head.
And one of the things that was going to be on this list-- obtain bike, go for bike rides-- I have just done earlier this evening! It's a crappy rental bike, but it was only a $40 dollar deposit and I love it. To fully appreciate the crappiness of this bike, you must understand two things: it does not change gears, and there are no hand-brakes. That's right, you have to back-pedal to engage the brake. I think it might actually be a little girls' bike, for very tall little girls. (Like me! :p) But I feel safe on it, which is the most important thing for a bike for me (I have always had tall bikes in the past and I've always been terrified I'm going to crash and die). Yay bikes!
