Do any of you know a thing or two about applying for jobs that don't necessarily exist?
Let me clarify....
Through the trials and tribulations of job hunting, there is something I have learned: I have an unusual skill set. One that is fairly well-rounded but with no one skill developed enough for higher paying jobs. And my BA in psychology does little to nothing to help me move into a psych field since I have no psych experience.
So where would I fit, as someone with a moderate knowledge of psychology and an extensive knowledge of drugs and pharmacy practice?
I'm thinking the answer may be an assistant to a psychiatrist.
All too often prescriptions from psychiatrists get dropped off a the pharmacy and are written for meds that are unavailable, or dosages that don't exist. Rarely are refill requests responded to in a timely manner. This leads me to believe that psychiatrists as a whole could use a little help maintaining the medical side of their patient's therapy...someone to keep up on making sure prescriptions are written properly, and that pharmacies are responded to quickly so that the patients get their meds on time.
Plus, it would be a way to get my foot in the door working in the psych field.
How do I make this happen? Or is it a dumb idea?
I'm considering putting together a nice cover letter to this effect and faxing it along with my resume to some local psychiatric clinics, but I'm not sure if this is the best way to go about it.
Thoughts?
