Funny thing about mystical comas. You never know what to expect next. It's weird. I guess it's because I'm lacking in the control department here. Not that I was actually in control for quite some time. I mean, I completely lost track of the days, weeks, months, whatever. The last time I do remember having control over my thoughts .. my actions was ( Read more... )

My face fell as he mentioned something about Angel getting back together with Buffy. I quickly replaced that look with an annoyed one, just because I really didn't want Lindsey to know he got to me.

Truth be told, Buffy and I weren't always the best of friends, but we were always on friendly terms. Even if, in the beginning when we first came out to LA that was all he did. Brood about Buffy. And now he's back with her? And he couldn't even stop by and pay me a visit?

"You really are as stupid as you look." I said, glaring at him. "Little thing called a curse? Perfect happiness and all that jazz? Let's just say that the last time there was a so-called romantic moment, I was on the clean up crew."

They're not that stupid. At least I hoped they weren't.

"Didn't you think for a moment that he was in love with you? Or at least that is what I heard." ... "Now that was stupid of you to ever think that."

The only thing that kept me from leaping out of this bed and strangling him, was the IV hooked up to my arm that hurt to even move and the fact that the nurse was still standing there looking dumbstruck. I glared at her and watched her leave.

"All right McDonald. If your goal for the day was to annoy the hell out of me, congratulations, it's completed. You can leave now. Oh and don't let the door hit you too hard on your way out." I said, glaring back at him.

He was lucky the only real power I had was glowing. Because if I could kill somebody with a look, or I don't know, spit fire at him, I think I would've.

I saw the anger fill her eyes when I mentioned Buffy and Angel together. She was trying to hold it back of course but I could tell what she was truly feeling behind that mask of hers. "Let's just say that they might just be that stupid." I respond to her comment about the whole perfect happiness thing. Wouldn't that be something if Buffy got Angelus to come back out.

"All right McDonald. If your goal for the day was to annoy the hell out of me, congratulations, it's completed. You can leave now. Oh and don't let the door hit you too hard on your way out."

"Well, it wasn't to annoy the hell out of you but hey if you want me to go I'll leave. Just know that you'll be all by yourself then."

I stand up and move in towards her, my head only inches away from hers as I bend down and slightly whisper to her "I'm all you got now. Your big brooding hero left LA and you to rot here in this hospital. He didn't even leave a number to call if you ever came back."

I could help but smirk a bit but quickly whipped it away. Didn't want her to see the smirk. I move away from her, standing up straight again.

"I guess I'll be seeing you."

I slowly start to turn around and talk towards the door.

"I'm all you got now. Your big brooding hero left LA and you to rot here in this hospital. He didn't even leave a number to call if you ever came back."

I unconsciously clenched my fists as he leaned in and whispered that to me. No. That wasn't true. That couldn't be any more true then Angel and Buffy getting back together.

But then there was this nagging feeling tugging at me that must've been my damn voice of reason. If Angel was here and not with Buffy, he'd be at my bedside right now. And Lindsey wouldn't be all I have to rely on. Crap.

I watched his retreating form and realized that there was no way in hell they'd be letting me leave the hospital, without someone signing me out. I sighed.

"Lindsey wait." I said as he moved closer to the door. I watched him falter in his step before continuing.

"Okay so maybe we're not exactly the closest of buddies, but .."I trailed off before continuing with clenched teeth, "I need your help getting out of here."

I rolled my eyes and huffed. This took a lot more then I imagined.

"There. I said it. I need your help, you're all I've got, whatever. Just get me the hell out of here."

I knew she was going to cave in. Would only take a matter of seconds before she did and that's when she said it; "Lindsey wait." I stopped but kept my back towards her. "Okay so maybe we're not exactly the closest of buddies, but .." I waited for those words to come out of her mouth "I need your help getting out of here."

I smiled and started to turn around. "There. I said it. I need your help, you're all I've got, whatever. Just get me the hell out of here."

"Exactly what I wanted to hear." I walked back over to her. "Well, getting you out of here may not be as easy as it seems. You still need some tests done to make sure your ok." I felt like I Just won some sort of debate or something. In a sense it was one, I had to cross her over to the other side. Make her believe that Angel didn't give a damn about her.

"Not a nice feeling, knowing that the ones you thought loved and cared about you just left you."

"Well, getting you out of here may not be as easy as it seems. You still need some tests done to make sure your ok."

Leaning over to place the cup on the table next to my bed, I tapped my fingers on my arm as I returned to a sitting position. Glancing past him and back over to the door, I sighed.

"Well, what are we waiting for? Call the doctors in, run the tests, whatever."

I hated hospitals. Maybe it was from my Sunnydale days and all, but I hated the smell, the sight of them. It brought back memories of oh, a metal bar through my rib cage for instance. Thank you Harris.

"Not a nice feeling, knowing that the ones you thought loved and cared about you just left you."

"Well it's not like you know from experience." I huffed at him. I kinda realized that it wasn't exactly the smartest thing in the world to be giving him this flippy ass attitude, but still, I was testy.

I just woke up to find that supposedly my best friend and the slayer were back together and not even in LA. And they just left me behind.

"How do I know that they really left?" I mused aloud. And if he mentioned a thing about me trusting him, I may have to punch him in the face.

"The doctors have already been called, they just knew that I needed some time with you before they came." I glance down at my watch "They should be here any minute now."

I may not know from experience the same situation she was talking about but I did know from experience about the ones that should care not caring. I knew that all too well. Part of the reason why I took the job at Wolfram and Hart, to prove them all wrong back at him. And most of all to prove him, my father wrong.

"Trust me, I know they really left." I noticed the look she gave me when I told her to trust me. "Alright, I give you that one. Of course you can't trust me but the point is they aren't in LA anymore. The slayer needed some help and he left. He had a contract here with Wolfram and Hart but left it. He had to sign a few papers to leave so if you want I could show those to you. Also you could go look around LA if that would suit you better. Although that'd just be a waste of your time because you won't find any Angel here."

[Sorry, been having comp problems]

Ugh. If they didn't hurry up and get here, I was going to rip this freaking IV out of my arm. And possibly strangle someone with it.

"Maybe they have all day, but I kinda have a really annoying IV sticking out of my arm." I huffed, glancing in his direction.

And he mentioned trusting him. Are you kidding me? Give me one reason why I shouldn't punch him in the face and then he mentioned a contract. With Wolfram and Hart. And Angel? Would never sign a contract with them.

"You're lying." I said, glaring at him. "Angel would never sign a contract with your happy little law firm from hell." I said, shrugging. It was true.

I watched as the doctors walked in the room and frowned. McDonald was so going to get his ass kicked later.
