Severe Delays on British Airways

There is a long-standing joke that I am a curse to trains. Whenever I board a train on another line it is almost inevitable that there will quickly be service updates about severe delays on that line. It is only on my own line that things run smoothly, anywhere else and we'll all be grinding to a halt. I am even sometimes accused of disrupting ( Read more... )

Wow. Thanks for the story. Nicely written. I'm disappointed there was no amok-ness though:)
Really hope your train ride is straightforward and uneventful.

Makes my 1.5 hour drive later today in the heat pale in comparison.

Kids on a school trip this time of year?

Enjoy your well deserved days off in Snowy Parts!

Yowza. Hope the train journey is better.

(this would be a bad time to mention that my Worst Train Journey Ever - seven hours of delays on a five hour journey - was London to Edinburgh, wouldn't it?)

Got you well beat. I've done Edinburgh to Norwich in ten and a half hours.

goodness, that's an impressive delay. Glad you got to Edinburgh in the end.

Can I offer a bit of advice? Avoid Heathrow near Christmas.

I was due to fly GLA - LHR with BA on the 23rd, but once the strike was announced, discovered the well-kept secret that BA CityFlyer flights weren't affected, so I changed my ticket to a GLA - LCY flight earlier the same morning.

My flight left about 10 minutes late (Glasgow's de-icer drivers apparently know how not to collide with aircraft), and arrived at City in time. Even with luggage to collect, from stepping off the plane to stepping onto the DLR platform took less than fifteen minutes.

I've heard that London City is lovely but it would probably be even lovelier if it were actually anywhere near London. :-(

Glad you got your flight ok though. :-)

Depends where in London you're heading to :)
(It took me just a shade under an hour, which is faster, and significantly less boring than spending 75 minutes on the Piccadilly Line)
