Challenge #06

May 03, 2008 23:04

I have a different kind of challenge for you this week.

I'm going to be away next weekend, so this challenge is not due in until Saturday May 17th. And I thought that, since you have two weeks, you could have a go at sets instead of icons. Whether the idea will appeal, I cannot say, but we'll give it a try. If only a handful of you enjoy this kind of thing, at least everyone will have a chance to learn some new technique(s) afterwards.

The challenge this week is to make a set of eight textures from the picture(s). Please paste your textures into this template, and save it as a single document, then post it in comments to this entry in the usual way.

Don't forget that if your texture set is voted the winner, you'll be asked to provide a tutorial on how you made it - so take notes!

I am providing two pictures this week. You make one set of eight textures from each picture. There is no requirement that you make two sets (ie you don't have to use both pictures), but you must not do a mixed set which uses both pictures. Please make it clear, for my benefit, which pic you have used to make your texture set when you post your entry.

Clear? If you aren't sure what I mean, do please ask.

Here are the pictures - click (twice) for full size):

To create your textures, you can use any of the effects-filters, gradients, blend modes etc-that come with your graphics program, and I don't see any reason why you can't use brushes if you want them. No other images beyond the ones provided, though, and don't incorporate any textures made by anyone else.

Your entries are due in by 7pm British Summer Time on Saturday 17th May. Have fun!

Normal operation will resume after the 17th.
