god its taken me four days to document last weekend as ive been running around with my head cut off. i certainly dont want to forget any of it seeing as i had such a wonderful time.
got off work thursday and ran over to the bank with my check. cashed it then bolted to the greyhound station and jumped on a bus to silver spring (md). as usual it was late and then i got stuck in baltimore FOREVER before finally arriving a good hour behind schedule. eugh. then i took the train in to dc and met up with schnipper at his place. we went and got some food and said hi to matt at the videostore before heading back and waiting for people to come over and hang out. a few people showed up and it was pretty chill. twas an early night as schnipper and i took a leave of absence from consciousness the second people left and i awoke the next morning quite refreshed
and anxious.
friday morning i got up and got ready for my appointment at the corcoran. it took me a little while to get there but by walking everywhere this weekend i think i made dc a smaller city in my mind. attaching neighborhoods to each other and what not as i passed through them. the tour/interview at the corcoran went extremely well and reassured me in regards to how i initially felt about the school (i was slightly worried that id get there and itd be something that didnt interest me). while you do have to take admissions tours with a grain of salt i got to see the facilities, of which im stoked on. particularly the labs and the fact that seniors have a gallery showing in the actual museum.
i definitely got hit on in the worst way by the student giving the tour (which was pretty amusing). in the middle of the tour she just stopped and started staring at me and goes... "did anyone ever tell you that you look EXACTLY like conor oberst?"
yeouch. i felt bad having to actually hold myself from laughing out loud. then when i was leaving the office her friend sort of ran out after me and handed me a slip of paper with the girls email address and a note that said "if you have any photo questions let me know :)". oyyy.
im pretty stoked on the school and the interview was pretty helpful since now i know that i need to go back to school for two classes before i apply. the first being english so i dont have to take the sats (never really got that out of the way) so the credit can transfer and take the place of the sat score. the second being a photography class so that i can get a killer portfolio together. theres a portfolio day here in philly on november six so i can show them some of my photos and get a good idea on how i should shape said portfolio. i really want to take this as seriously as possible because that is whats going to set the tone of how i approach school on a whole. im tired of just dicking around without any real focus.
anyway, after the corcoran i met up with evan and then we met up with cam, daniel and jess. we went to an army navy store in bethesda and amused ourselves greatly trying on all the random crap laying about... much to the dismay of the manager who had one of the most sour looks on his face. the night was spent hanging at evans before heading over to asylum to get the drinking started. i then ended up drinking forties with daniel in evans parking lot when cam showed up and we met up with chris and jamie and made out for schnippers again. fun little gathering there (batboy mask whaaaa!?) which ended up overflowing to asylum again once the beer dissapeared. matt borlik and i then headed back to his place in mt. pleasent for a night of gleeful drunken goofyness the likes of which i cant imagine i will see again for a while (unless of course he uploads the pictures... ouch). passed out around seven am.
woke up the next day to use borliks bathroom to find the toilet has a problem of overflowing. d'oh. we got that cleaned up and had some lunch, conversing while we ill fatedly tried to battle hangovers as they set in their various stages. chilled for a while then walked over to chris long's house in which i sat in awe of his housemates gigantic ass television. chilled and had some dinner and played with christian's cat vader who is remarkably similar to 20/20. after that we made out for the jess' birthday party which would soon turn into a series of embarrassing events that are probably better off documented by those who actually witnessed them.
among the most hilarious:
- keg stands
- schnipper doing a keg stand (the edge breaks hard, my friends)
- drunken ramblings
- drunken dancing
- stroller derby
- climbing out a window in order to escape a house with a locked front door
- pumpkin throwing
after all that i promptly passed out back at schnipper's and jess m's (who are truly gracious hosts to be sure). the next day was hangover free and an incredibly shitty drive back to philly. pretty brief summary overall but i had an incredible time and met a lot of great/fun people.
since being back in philly ive pretty much just been working and spending time with susie who leaves for africa for two years this weekend. im not exactly looking forward to it, but i admire her dedication immensely and will definitely miss her. speaking of which i need to head home and finish her mix tape so she has something to listen to on the plane. yeah. life is life and im fairly content despite everything being extremely hectic/unsteady. i feel like im on the verge of doing something really wonderful, i just hope i can make it that far.
