1. Not so many people
2. NO RESERVES!!!
well, sometimes there are pseudo-reserves for a couple CLS programs
3. Less coworkers
With a total of four people who work the Circ desk, better chance of less stupidity
4. Tech Services
I don't work there every summer, but when I do I love it. I get to see all the books that come in! We get a lot of interesting stuff that noone knows about.
5. Linda Sturtz's husband
He comes in and asks for her ILLs always asking for "Dr. Sturtz's" Loans. He's also very very strange. Like today for example. He came in and asked if she had anything yet and that she's "living in hope of a microfilm." When I told him nothing yet he sighed, "Must be the elves' off-month".
He's also English
6. Other tasks
The summer is the time to do a lot of shit we normally don't during the school year. A little break-up in the usual routine is fun and interesting. Even if I may gripe about some things.
7. Higher Prof interaction
Most people who check-out books over the summer are the faculty. So I get to see and talk to a few of them more often than I would over the school year. But then sometimes there is also the risk of Profs you don't like. Like when El Gillenator came in sporting a beard and shorts that showed off his spindely legs. eeeew
8. Money
Only time of the year the check goes to my bank account and not to my student account.
