The Last 7 Days
Starting with last Wednesday. Suckage began right before work, when I had just pulled into the parking lot and making my way to the building when some guy on a bike came up to me claiming I caused an accident behind me because I didn't have my signal on when I turned into the parking lot! First WTF? Maybe there was a fender bend behind me, but I couldn't have anything to do with it. 1) I am anal about my signals. 2) I had to stop and wait for a car to pass before I could make my turn, so I was already stopped for a while before any car could come behind me. and 3) Just. No. WTF. Luckily two of our custodians and the UPS guy was right there, too. The custodians were just like. "WTF. Don't worry about it. It has nothing to do with you." Even the UPS guy joked and said "Oh yeah. I know that accident, I ran them over on my way in." Still, the accusation upset me and left me a bit shaken for a couple hours.
On top of that, one of regular (and awful) patrons was being awful and argumentative and I was close to calling 911 because he was refusing to leave and getting louder and louder.
Oh, and we caught someone trying to steal books. And she got all belligerent and all "I bought these at library in another state!" Even though, despite her efforts of tearing off all labels and tags, still had our stamp inside, and the RFID tag was still active, showing the book still being in our system. Then like her cousin was all angry at us for accusing her. But dude, srsly. BItch was stealing shit . we found the labels in the trash later. But the situation was handled really well by circ staff. So yay team!
Thursday was the day I discovered that my debit card info had been compromised, There were a lot of charges that weren't mind, and shit was all fucked up, and I had no available funds in my checking account. So, that was sucking a lot.Called the credit union to get my card blocked, But it took days for my account to get un-fucked enough that finally TODAY I was able to put in my charge disputes (and I won;t get all my money back), so there is progress. A couple of the companies that had charged my account on their own had re-credited my account. So that was cool. It will still be a couple months apparently before I can get another debit card. In the mean time, I have a traveler's card that I can put money on use like a debit card. I used it at a gas station today, and worked just fine. I just don't think I can make online purchases with it. So... that's kinda bumming me out a lot right now. WHAT IF I NEED MUSIC AND DVDS?!?!?!
In between that though, fedora_hat visited this weekend. We saw Pacific Rim and RIPD. It was the second go for me for Pacific Rim. And I still want to see it again. I am so happy there's finally a summer movie this year I'm really into. RIPD was not anything worth getting into. Or seeing. Should've just seen Pacific Rim again.
And today was a really nice day. The weather is cooler. And work was wonderful. I was busy enough. I was feeling really helpful and I felt that my help was being appreciated. I wish everyday at work was like that. And not dealing with assholes who don't know how to behave themselves, or angry people who cannot be satisfied. Or if I'm just spending a day playing Tech Support for ppl who've never used even a calculator before.
Hopefully my banking issues will get resolved soon enough. The shock and rage has had enough time to pass for me to be a bit more zen about it and just deal with each thing as it comes.
