I suppose it depends if they were a human originally or a dog... otherwise there's probably some sort of Latin that could cover it.

And it seems like this place enforces cooperative living. The more disruptive members of our transient population are kept rather in check.

... Maybe. But that's something new I've never seen or heard of. Ugh.

Right, cooperation. Unfortunately. And sure, they're kept in check, but the punishment they receive is rather delayed.

In this place, you get to learn a lot of things that perhaps don't exist or work in the world you came from... that's why it's so fascinating! Although I suppose it can be quite disturbing...

This is true, unfortunately. I don't think there's much that can be done about that... well, maybe tipping off the Chief of Police? Even if he takes things a little far when annoyed.

A bit of both, it still takes time to adjust to.

Tch, when he feels like it, right?

Believe you me, I can understand that. There were quite a few differences from where I came from, as well as people from worlds similar to mine - but not similar enough. Learning about the people here has been full of surprises.

When he feels like harrassing us, perhaps...

Always good to know we're thrown into a different place, different people, and constant changes. Makes it very relaxing.

He acts as if it's a strain to him personally. As if it were a chore.

I'm not sure about your circumstances, but I think my coming here was rather fortunate...

Perhaps if it's such a bother to him he should resign and allow someone less irritable to take over.

And why is it fortunate for you>

Oh, but. Any of them resigning would be giving up power and they can't have that.

Let's just say I was in a rather... difficult situation and leave it at that. I don't look forward to the day that the city decides I should return. With any luck I won't feel anything.

You're right. How could he get his fun and harass us if he resigns?

Exactly, or how could they gain their fun by stepping down?

Hopefully they'll keep their need for fun to themselves for a little while.

Aha, don't get your hopes up.

It comes in cycles, it seems. It's just a matter of when.

It doesn't hurt to be prepared.
