The Icon Meme, per
tigerbright : I only have 4 icons, but if you comment here I'll ask you about 5 of yours.
Rob took this at the Newport Aquarium. It's a mural of a Japanese Spider Crab, life-sized as big as they come. (The live ones in the tank were much smaller.) This image has not been photoshopped or otherwise manipulated in any way; this is what it look slike straight out of the camera. Rob's title for this picture is "Pluto wants its planet status back, or we will devour Earth women." This is my default.
The last couple years in Eugene, I took some jewelry and metalsmithing classes. This is a piece I made in my chasing and repousse class. It's seahorses 'cause we like seahorses. I don't use this much, it's mostly here because I'm proud of the work piece; I'll use it for stuff about me & Rob, or about metalsmithing, and since I haven't talked about that stuff much, well, there you go.
This is a picture Rob took of me working on the project detailed in
this post. I use it for when I'm talking about being handy in a technical way. Which is not often.
My friend
nik_strychnine , whom I've now known for nearly half our lives, is a talented modeler and artist. He used to caricature his friends in funny-animal form. This is me as a Texas Horny Lizard, (aka horned toad) circa midwinter of 1991-92. The T-shirt reads "Lone Star State of Sexuality". Disclaimer: though I am a native Texan, I am not an alumna nor affiliated in any way with TCU, whose mascot is the horned toad. He picked this for me I think because of the hairstyle and the bad attitude. I use this one when I'm commenting in Nik's journal, talking about comics or SF, or having a bad attitude.
