Hark(er)! An OWBC, Chapter Six: Jump Scare
Hello again, to readers old and new, at LJ or at Boolprop!
Previously: Olive and Oil continued their studies at Académie Le Tour, Oil getting a few lovers along the way; at the main house, unsuspecting townie #3, Donna Holmes, was moved in, and helped get some career rewards before her time was up, much like unsuspecting townie #2, Reese Baldwin. Nisha became a member of the Garden Club, despite their irrational hatred towards the flamingos, and Reese and Donna were killed (by drowning and fire, respectively) after getting some career rewards, completing the Ghost Hunt for this generation. Börje and Bruna moved out after earning 2 careers rewards each, with Bruna getting her dream job (Criminal career) and Börje getting married to townie Yvonne O'Connor (their first child being conceived towards the end of the chapter).
And now for our scheduled episode...
Remember this guy, Fergus Graves, the streaker? Olive went on a date with him back on chapter 4. It didn't go amazingly well, but eventually they became best friends over the phone. And as they didn't have bad chemistry or anything, I decided he could very well be the generation 1 spouse.
So, soon enough, love was in the air at Olive and Oil's dorm.
Olive found out that fatness is one of Fergus' turn-ons, which is great, with her being unable to keep fit due to her Grilled Cheese aspiration and all. After I tweak their turn-ons a bit more, they might even get some decent chemistry.
Oil apparently approves of her sister's choice of husband.
Not having to worry with the search for a spouse anymore, Olive carried on with her college work, and so did Oil, even if she frequently complained about it.
It wasn't all work and no play during the twins' last semesters at college, though. Oil made some more progress towards her 20 loves LTW. Love #3 was pizza girl Lauren Reeves.
And #4 was cheerleader Mallory Llewellyn.
But Oil still proved to be very difficult to keep happy.
Her mood improved a little bit after reaching 5 lovers, #5 being the burglar who made a (very unwanted) appearance back on chapter 4, Jessica Ebadi.
A little trivia: see this dormie? In my Veronaville, where the original Nisha Harker is from, this guy was her maternal grandfather.
(I'll have to be careful over the next generation to avoid any squicky romantic interactions between him and any of Olive's kids. I don't need to worry about these two, since Oil likes girls, and this dormie is a Romance sim, and therefore wouldn't have much chemistry with Olive anymore.)
Olive eventually pops the question to Fergus, and he happily accepts.
Which is promptly followed by some naked time. Fergus doesn't even bother getting dressed again after woohooing. This should be an interesting generation to play, I'm definitely not used to the streaker coding (I don't think I've ever married in a streaker into any of my families).
Oil gets some more action, as Gage's dad watches. (This is lover #6 for her, Laka Morrison.)
And, finally, it's time for Olive and Oil to graduate.
They need a placeholder for this dorm, and Kai Truman (aka "Don") is the right man for the job.
Meanwhile, at the main neighbourhood, we have Börje and Yvonne eagerly waiting the birth of their first child, with aunt-to-be Bruna being thrilled about it too.
Yvonne eventually goes into labour (while her husband freaks out in the background)...
...and gives birth to a baby boy with her skin tone and hair colour, and Börje's (and Cody's) eyes.
Since Börje and Bruna's names originated from Behind the Name's random name generator, I decided that would be the naming "theme" for Börje and Yvonne's kids as well. This little one here is Hector O'Connor.
Nisha needs more grandchildren for her LTW (and Olive's going to have at least 3), so Yvonne is already pregnant again by the time Hector's toddler birthday rolls around.
He's a very sweet little boy, and I can definitely see features of both his parents in him. He's a Sagittarius 2/6/9/7/1 (the meanest member of the Harker family so far).
Yvonne gives birth again not too long after.
And guess what...natural twins! Börje and Bruna were natural twins as well, and so was the original Veronaville Nisha. I guess twins do run in this family.
Twin #1, with a skintone in-between his parents, and Cody's eyes, is Lorens. Twin #2, with Yvonne's skin tone and Nisha's grey eyes, is Ravi.
Leaving the happy Harker-O'Connor family, we go back to Académie Le Tour. And look, it's the one college party I actually remembered to take a pic of!
Nisha is around for her daughter's graduation, even if that's not the main thing on her mind at the moment.
"Oil, sweetie, your brother and Yvonne already have three adorable little boys, and your sister is going to get married and have some children of her own too. Wouldn't you like to have children as well, even if you don't get married? It would be lovely to have more grandchildren..."
"Sorry, Mom, but no kids for me. Nope, not at all. You already have three, and Olive's going to give you the three more you want, maybe even more. For extra grandchildren, talk to Bruna or Olenna. I'd rather be the cool aunt."
"I promise you, Olive, I'll give my best as a challenge spouse, this is going to be one awesome generation. And if your mother wants more grandchildren, we'll give them plenty. We're definitely going to have some great-looking children, just look at our fantastic genetics."
A while later, the party timer reaches zero, and it's time for Olive to leave ALT. (She graduated Summa Cum Laude in Biology, by the way.)
Oil doesn't actually need to throw a party for her graduation, since Olive's already ticked the box for their second winter at ALT. I give her one anyway, because she earned it.
Nisha returns and brings Cody along, but nothing they say will change Oil's mind about giving them more grandchildren. More power to her, they'll already have plenty just from Börje & Yvonne and Fergus & Olive.
And Oil's time at university comes to an end as well. She returns to the main neighbourhood, leaving "Don" placeholding. (Oil graduated Summa Cum Laude in Art.)
Back at the main Harker household, Olive asks Fergus to move in.
He immediately gets a makeover. I also like this face template, I'm very curious to see how it'll mix with Olive's genes.
Fergus' stats: he's a Leo 0/10/6/6/2 (genetic personality 4/10/4/4/3), and a Popularity sim (LTW to become Captain Hero). He joined the household with an impressive total of 40 skill points, and also 2000 simoleons. His turn-ons were originally fat and custom hair, (the latter being changed to blonde hair to get more chemistry with Olive; Olive's were similarly changed from logic & cleaning to logic & black hair) and his turn-off is jewelry.
Olive invites one of her college friends, Neptune Queijo, over for the wedding party. (Neptune is a CAS sim; his father, his late sister and himself are recreations of some old Strangetown sims of mine. Trivia: "queijo" is the Portuguese word for "cheese", though you might have guessed that already if you know Spanish.)
"Alright, Neptune, let's get this party started!"
"You got it, Olive! Vooooo Gerbits!"
"Why would the college cheer even be appropriate for a wedding party? I don't get it."
"Neither do I, son, but your sister Olive's very enthusiastic about this sort of things, just let her be."
Fergus and Olive both look very happy on their wedding night, even if they're probably on the verge of freezing to death, particularly Olive.
They try to get the ceremony over with quickly, before someone actually freezes and needs urgent help.
And Fergus Graves is now Fergus Harker.
The rest of the Harker clan cheers them on, shivering every once in a while due to the cold.
Neptune was smarter than them and watched the whole thing from inside the bathroom. I'm impressed.
Time for the very traditional wedding cake...
...and there's no shoving the cake into her husband's mouth from Olive's part. Not that it comes as a surprise.
"Enjoy the cake while it lasts, because there will be quite a lot of grilled cheese on the menu for every meal from now on."
"I'm so glad I don't live here anymore."
"I knew moving back here to help get some career rewards was a lousy idea..."
"Shhh, Oil, don't argue with your sister on her wedding day. Your mother and I will make sure the three of us - and Fergus - get to eat something else other than grilled cheese over the next few weeks."
"You don't need to count me in on that, Mr. Harker, I'll eat grilled cheese if my lovely wife wants me to."
"Olive has this guy wrapped around her little finger. Maybe marriage isn't so dull after all, I could possibly do with a girl who treated me like a queen. I'll have to think about it..."
As the (quite successful) party comes to an end, Olive rushes to the energizer...
...just in time to go on her honeymoon in a great mood.
Oil, meanwhile, finds a job in the Show Business career, grumbling about her days of fun and romancing not being over yet under her breath.
Fergus and Olive return a while later, and to their great disappointment, I keep them from woohooing, not wanting to risk a pregnancy (because of the whole "one generation with no promotions" thing; generation 2 is delayed until Fergus, Olive and Oil get the career rewards I want them to).
They both get jobs that night as well, Olive in Natural Science and Fergus in Medical.
Nisha and Cody? Still an adorable couple, age hasn't changed them a bit. :)
Oil goes to work in a foul mood as everyone tries not to laugh at her outfit. The paperboy's definitely doing an herculean effort to suppress a smirk there.
Fergus and his numerous skill points are all kinds of awesome, and he gets a career reward after his first day from work. (This brings us to halfway point, hurray!) I'm so glad I decided to marry him in.
He switches over to Business that same night, as I'll take advantage of this to get as much CRs as I can before bringing on generation 2.
Little did I know that the OWBC gods would strike again that night. Shortly after Fergus got a new job, Olive was ambushed by Donna's vengeful ghost in one of the bathrooms...
...with fatal results.
I'm going to admit it, I panicked. I knew Fergus would probably be able to plead successfully for her, but there was still a small chance he'd lose, and I didn't want another situation like Olenna's.
So I held my breath as he pleaded for Olive's life, wondering what the hell would I do if Olive died for good. Maybe Oil could get a bone phone? Would that be against the rules?
Thankfully, I wouldn't have to worry about that, as Fergus saved the day once again, much to the Grim Reaper's disappointment.
Olive was, of course, beyond thrilled to be back in the land of the living, and very grateful towards her beloved husband.
Things were (fortunately) fairly uneventful during the next few days. Olive got a cowplant, and switched over to Paranormal. Oil got the Show Business reward, and promptly found a job in the Artistic career. And Fergus, being made of win as he is, got the Business career reward very quickly too, allowing me to find him a third and last job in Military.
ACR decided to be sneaky, with Fergus and Olive quietly going for some photobooth woohoo as I was distracted with the other household members. Luckily, no pregnancy resulted from this.
Oil continued developing and perfecting her seduction techniques. She's pictured here with lover #6, Devi Bach.
And here with #7, Nona Lynch.
Another framming party was thrown as spring made its appearance, with Olenna coming to visit once again...
...along with sim Jo, here seen annoying Olive over something. Probably about that one time Olive asked Jo for a TV when she was a child.
They still managed to have good time, regardless of Jo not being a very fun addition to parties.
We wrap up the chapter with the third career reward earned by Fergus (meaning he's reached his limit and is now off the hook as Workaholics Anonymous is concerned). This brings us to a total of 14 career rewards. Thank you, Fergus!
