It has been way too long since I have updated this damn thing. I hope that everyone is doing well and having a fantastic time doing whatever they are doing..haha. So, I am going to be staying at the hotel for the weekend and serve as tour guide to the 'faboulous' city of H-town. There is a group of kids from La Jolla, TX(about 15miles way from McAllen,TX and 15min away from the border) and they are visiting the BIG CITY for the first time. It boggles my mind that these 15-17y/o have never seen a metropolitan like Houston. Somehow, (I guess b/c I was one the created the reservation, can speak Spanish and knows Houston) got stuck with the job of being their tour guide. Today, their chaperones took the kids to visit Rice and University of Houston-Central. When the kids were visiting UH, for some danm reason they ran into me. Imagine a group of 44 streotypical Hispanics yelling out “Christin”. I must have turned a million shades of red infront of my English prof. She is going to have a 'day in the park' next time she sees me. After their little tour, we took them to the MFA and Museum of Natural Science( I just realize that museums are a good place to spend some time) and just came back from the Rodeo, Carnival and seeing Alicia Keys. It was a good day, but very tiresome I am still trying to convince these kids that I am not Caucasian but Hispanic, but sadly I don't think its going to happen. Tomorrow, the kids are going to Galleria and downtown. My cow-worker suggested that we let the kids loose on Montrose and see how they react to that neighborhood. Haha…god he is crazy. I think its sad that Houston only has Galleria and NASA as a cool place to visit. Anyone have any suggestion of cool places to show these kids?
Rodeo has begun and aevery week during rodeo we are going to have meetings to discuss the issues we faced that week. Here are some of th ehighlighs of today's meeting and somehow involve ME!
Guests vomiting and passing out:
Apparantelty, I now have the record number of guests vomiting on a Hotel employee, 17 times. I still cant get the smell of vomit out of one of my jackets. Great. We stil havent' come up on a good way of dealing with drunk cowboys passing out in the halls.
Room 831:
When a hotel is sold out/overbooked, unfortunately, some guests fall through cracks and are forgotten or ignored by the Front Desk. Mrs Leachcim and her company was one of the guests that fell through the cracks. She was ignored by the Desk and we of course, felt sorry for her. We tried to make it up for her by giving her the best treatment that guests deserves, it was probably too good the way we treated her. In the end, 5 DIFFERENT people, including 2 F/D agents, Me, the General Manager and the Head Accountant, helped out Mrs. Leahcim in different ways. Leachcim's company, the bellman and myself went to the room 831, I wanted to personally make sure that the room was perfect. I oopened the door and….the sounds of a menége trois danced in my head while the act un-folded in front of my eyes. In the middle of the living room, a 50ish y/o man, a 40ish y/o woman and a good look 20 something y/o female were in the middle of the “heats of passion”. People, if your going to have sex in the living room, at least make sure that the door is deadbolted and close the curtains!!! Both parties were pretty pissed at the hotel and in the end, we just gave them them a free weekend stay at other hotels. Turns out that in the middle of the all the chaos, we faield to completely check the menége trois completely in the system and overlooked this discrepancy when Leachim came to the desk. That was a crazy 30min ordeal.
“Friendly” Drunk Guests:
In a meeting among managers, a rumour that a agent (NOT ME!) was too friendly with one guest during Cook-Off Weekend and was caught having sex with the guest. I fell off my chair when I heard this information b/c I know who the guests is and who the agent is as well. In the end, my Gen. Mgr. stood up and with a quiver and lisp in his voice said, 'Troops, if your going to fuck a guests, at least take off your nametag or uniform.” So guys, don't get too friendly with F/D agents when u go off and travel.
These were just some of the best points in the meeting and I hope ya'll enjoyed them as well. Haha…lates
