Seven Days Response: a Fandom Action.

Jun 02, 2007 03:55

The stated Goal of 7 Fandom Days is to create a dialog with Livejournal about fandom. Specifically, to get LJ to specifically respond to fandom concerns about censorship and types of creative expression what will/won't be construed as "safe" in the future.

The Introduction. We formulate an email to Six Apart and Livejournal staff to let them know what 7 Days is and why it's happening.
The Stories: We share our personal fandom stories - our histories, our favorite moments, our experiences and our growth. We talk about why fandom means what it does to each of us. Post to your journals and link them back here. Engage in the discussion, both here and on your own LJs.

Day 5: Asking the Questions II.

Focus issues day: we discuss fandom hotbuttons and think about why certain fandom issues are recurring. We talk about our individual fandom cultures and the problems located within them. Those who are invested in the results can use the discussions to take back into their own fandoms - to work to create action within their communities.

Day 6: Taking Action.

*Optional: Donate for Fandom. Participate in fandom_gives 7 day Charity drive to raise money from fandom for RAINN.org, the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network.

*Optional: Investigate: Examine the list that Perverted Justice has of previously reported suspect Livejournal blogs. Create our own list, based on the pre-existing list, of journals we feel ARE NOT criminal, have been placed on the list erroneously, and should be rightfully removed from the LJ suspend list and the Perverted Justice blog list.

Once the list is finalized, send one copy of the list to Livejournal Abuse, and another to Perverted Justice, explaining that we from fandom support Livejournal's attempts to rid LJ of criminal activity.

I'm quite willing to help with all of this. Ping me over at my journal if I somehow don't show up for it, since things do get lost in the shuffle of my flist. . .
