In spite of a rough week, all is well. Chris was in Denver visiting friends for 6 days. I missed him bunches. He didn't have to, but he bought me a couple of souvenirs. One is a gorgeous hand made glass sculpture of two hummingbirds feeding from a tall flower and the other is a hand made Native American necklace on about 10 strings with teeny, tiny beads on each one. They are both exquisite and I teared up a little. I missed him and I am thankful he was returned to me safely.
We're getting a greyhound. They're called the "45 mile per hour couch potato" since they're actually very calm dogs. The one I want is named Tasha. She is a 4 year old brindle-colored (black and brown striped) retired racer. She was the first one who saw me & nuzzled me. And she is just about the sweetest thing I've ever seen. I found some pictures of her from the
adoption agency through which we're going. It's $175 to adopt. This includes a kennel for the first month, all shots up to date, teeth cleaned, spaying, a special collar, and all pedigree paperwork.
This is Tasha via my cell phone camera:
She also had a photo shoot:
No "Myspace Face" here!!! Just sheer vogueing.
There were also a lot of other dogs I looked at and considered for adoption. This is Brutus and Snow (guess who is who!). Brutus tickled my fancy, too, but he didn't take to me quite like Tasha did.
Here is Max. I took him for a walk and he pooped on the sidewalk in front of Kirkland's. He lost cool-points for that.
And finally, Somer. She had a plate put in her knee. If things go well with Tasha we might consider taking her in once her therapy is complete (in another month).
All in all, I'm super excited. I know that whoever we ultimately bring home will be loved by both myself and Christopher. The tough part will be the last name...Martin, Myers, Martin-Myers?
What else, what else? Oh! I just started watching The Office (US version) on DVD and I'm hooked. I <3 it. Dwight is so hardcore and I identify with Pam more than I want to. And Jim's comedic genius is...well, genius! Yeah, yeah, yeah, go ahead: "The British version is better!" Whatever. I don't care. This is what I have access to. And I like it.
I wish all of you a wonderful day. May whatever God you believe in smile upon you and your friends and family. Don't forget to smile; Life is too short to waste on bad feelings.
:D
