Merlin 3x06

You know, recently I've gotten back into watching Merlin. I mean, I've always sort of watched it to pass the time, but now I'm actively waiting for each new episode because I'm having such fun. However, I do have a problem with the current storyline.

I get that Morgana was eventually supposed to go evil and all (and I mean, it's not that she's evil-evil, it's that she's crazy for revenge against Uther) but it is just killing me that her friendship with Gwen is just crumbling to pieces. I remember that time Gwen got kidnapped and when Arthur brought her back, you could just see the relief in Morgana, as if she could finally breathe again. And now it looks like she's gonna use Arthur and Gwen's relationship as a way to get Gwen to betray Arthur so that she can kill him and take the throne. It just feels like such a betrayal. I mean, Gwen was always her friend and she has no tie to the whole Uther mess except for the fact that she's in love with Uther's son. Now I understand that Morgana feels that she has to take down Uther, but the fact that she's willing to use Gwen to do it just makes me really sick.

One other thing. I normally have no problem with bad acting (I really don't. If I like an actor/actress enough, it just flies by me) but the girl who plays Morgana just has this horrible habit of smirking evil-y every time she's about to do something...well, evil, and it just cracks me up entirely. Um, babe, don't play poker EVER. You'll get cleaned the fuck out.

Overall, I really liked this last episode with the princess who's supposed to marry Arthur. I liked that talk Arthur and Gwen had where she tells him that the two of them being together is basically insane and Arthur just looks at her with THESE EYES and he's like a minute away from crying. (BTW, Bradley Whatshisface is about 100% my type. NOMNOMNOM.) He tells her that he'd rather be insane than miserable.

In the end I'm really glad he wasn't able to go through with the marriage. I know in ye olde times, it wouldn't have actually worked out this way, but I really appreciated that Arthur couldn't forsake his love of Gwen for his duty as a prince. And okay, it does seem kind of irresponsible in retrospect, but don't judge, guys. I'm a sucker for this kind of schmoop.

One other thing. I LOOOOOOVED Elena. But here's the thing, it felt as though they were saying that the only reason she had that adorable personality was because there was a fairy thing inside of her. And then, when that thing came out, she suddenly became the perfect, graceful princess that she should have been? Um, no. Just because you're royalty, it doesn't mean you're born with charm and grace. Sure, you might be trained to walk differently,  learn to speak in a certain way and all that jazz, but you cannot tell me with an honest face that all royals are born without an ounce of awkwardness in them. Okay, now I want to write fic about Elena reverting back to her dorky self after she goes back to her kingdom. Fine, she won't trip anymore, but no one will convince me that she a total geek by nature.
