This was a wonderful ending to this charming, hilarious story. The love story is complicated and heart warming. Buffy's struggle to remain strong and independent despite the claim is well handled, and I'm sure the claim will have long term consequences for both her and Spike. This chapter left the relationship at a good starting point, and I'm delighted that there is going to be more.

Your Joyce is pitch perfectl, and I loved this exchange: “What does this outfit say to you? Mortal enemy or let’s be friends?”

“It says thank you for taking me on a date on a school night, vampire.” I can just see Joyce's crossed arms and the slight frown on her face.

This gave me a laugh: I thought you liked Spike. You had hot cocoa together.”

“I like the Grateful Dead, too, but that doesn’t mean I want them to date my daughter.”

“You like the Grateful Dead?” Yeah, that would have given me pause, too. Not that I don't like the Grateful dead, just, Joyce does? Huh.

This showed how much Spike is struggling, too: “I nicked it, all right?”

“Spike!”

“Adjusting!” He raised his eyebrows pathetically when she sighed but then she shook her head with a smile and he knew he was off the hook. “Paid for dinner, didn’t I?”

“Yes, you did. Thank you. Now come open this door for me so we can watch evil dolls murder people.” Buffy's boyfriend is a work in progress, but it's lovely that she's willing to cut him some slack. Their choice of movie was hysterical. Buffy's in voice Now come open this door for me so we can watch evil dolls murder people. made me laugh out loud.

Spike's adolescent should I or shouldn't I hold her hand mental argument was charming, and I was grinning when Buffy just reached over. It opened the door for them both to relax into the date, and it all went swimmingly from there. The doorstep make out scene was breathtaking, and I could feel Spike's exuberance thrumming through that last paragraph. I'll have "Way I Walk" stuck in my head all afternoon. Thanks!

I'm glad you liked this little story of mine and thank you so much for the review! The Cramps songs are wonderful things to get stuck in your head.
