A Silent Observer
A certain Mage nodded her head to the lunchlady, the silent gesture to thank her for the meal which she now received.
Alone in this break between classes, Seven slowly began to walk towards the tables rapidly filling up with her peers, all swarming to down a quick meal before their next class. She paused, pensively scanning over the heads of the seated schoolgirls before she realized, in a bit of embarrassment, that she had accidentally caught herself looking for one student in particular. Really, she should simply be searching for a place to sit and to eat. Lunch was not designed to be a social activity - it was the intake of nutrients required to keep one's body functioning at its intended levels of performance. Who a person sat next to, if anyone at all, was irrelevant.
The girl took a deep breath, then seated herself at the end of one table not yet filled up...some of the older girls sat on the far end, but she had the remainder of the table to herself. Her scheduled lunch period did provide her with one rather unique opportunity, however. Beyond simply eating one's meal, it was the one period where everyone gathered but there was no set agenda. Students could go where they wanted, sit where they wanted, speak with whom they wanted outside the constraints of a guided discussion by a professor.
Finding this interesting, the quiet girl was seemingly content to sit alone and watch. Since so much of this was irrelevant, it spoke volumes about a person's character to see who they chose to align themselves with, what social groupings they chose for themselves, and how they intermingle with each other. Saying nothing, Seven took a bite of her apple and watched with the patient yet detached interest of a psychologist, the students moving about her the lab rats in her own hidden experiment.
