So, a short, moustachioed man from housing just entered my room and searched it. Apparently, someone told him that my room had "too much furniture" in it, and he was here to take it away. After standing in my doorway and scanning my room for a minute, and finding no excessive furniture, he stood around awkwardly and asked me to affirm that this was in fact Hoey Hall 204. It was. Then, he shrugged and left.

This is disconcerting for several reasons.

First of all, this is a room in Governor's Village. My living space is 9 * 11; there isn't room for extra furniture in here. This thing he is claiming -- it is impossible.

Secondly, who told him this? Obviously, in order to determine that I had too much furniture in my room, someone had to come in here and poke around. If it was my RA, which seems the most likely culprit, she could have told me on inspection night (three weeks ago) that there was something wrong. She lives right beside me. I see her every day.

Thirdly and finally, this guy had no identification whatsoever on his person. He was wearing a sports team t-shirt and jeans. I determined this even before I opened the door, but just because the fellow had bellowed "Housing!" as he was knocking, I deemed it OK to let him in. He could have been some mugger/rapist/murderer. And I let him into my room.

So, I now have this eerie feeling that won't go away. Every noise I hear outside my (locked) door could be him coming back. Because now he knows that I'm gullible enough to let a completely strange man into my room. I am now prime victim material.

*Shudder*.
